Is this based on serious testing or just personal opinion?
Here we go.. In my case Serious testing in the area of concern over hundreds if not thousands of times anchoring, and in many other locations and with several different generations of anchors. As I say the anchors of any one generation are all very similar in performance and anybody who states differently is splitting hairs in a very academic way (not in the good sense of an academic either). Yes it's my opinion and not some dick breath Youtube channel.

All I can think is that the serious testing came up with some results that you don't agree with.

Not at all.. What don't you get about splitting hairs? I said they all work and its not worth worrying about the model. What have you got to bring to the table? Or are you just trolling?

in all likelyhoods we will see a frustrated radio call from Kirsten this week.
Abilash might not be spared much either though.

4days old now, not much has changed.
Very frustrated.

Don does his best to wring something out of her, he drops a few hints that everyone is battling slowly. Also, sir RKJ didn't have a clue he was leading till he finished, mentions that a few times.

looks like fun. he sailed directly into this!
Yea they are pretty common there. Lee lows (at least that is what I think they are) that spin up in the lee of the Andes and intensify as they head out to sea. Much better to be in closer and take them before they gain power.

It looked for a long while that Kirsten's future would include a few days waiting for wind but at the moment it looks like she might connect to the breeze to the north of her.
Navigating the doldrums will be another huge challenge for all of them but certainly going west on starboard will put her in a better position to get north from the west.
Great spectacle to enjoy vicariously.

plus she got some new info! this would be valuable in decision making for her.

Yeah, if she sticks with that "Ocean Passages" route, she'll be switching to the starboard tack soon and be back into the Trades.

She gets that every day. There are several sources on HF for that area so I imagine she is well up to date with the maritime broadcasts; Ol passage guardian isn't as import as he thinks he is since they approached Chile. Except that they probably like the chat; which will be good for moral. There isn't much of use in the broadcasts for navigating (sailing) through the doldrums though.

Not so sure. On the weekly radio call she hadn't got this for weeks as she has been out of range to have clear audio, and had nothing but her 200 year old guidebooks. It's new information for her.

I have listened in to the call much more recently than "weeks" and there are broadcasts from Argentina, Brazil, and earlier from the Falklands that she knows about.

Stop with the Don's bullshit about 200 year old guide books. Ocean Passages is still published. I have the 1973 edition, as that was the last one that came with a chart folder, and the data has always been kept up to date. Assuming she has that one then her book is 50 years old and only fine detailed knowledge has changed in that time.

I'm sure you know what you're talking about in general.

But if you actually listen to the radio call from a few days ago you can hear first hand from the actual sailor that she didn't have any weather information at all.

You know what they say about assumptions.
