Barbarus
International Man of Mystery
I've got the 1973 3rd edition as well, and as a strategy for navigating these waters absent detailed weather prediction data, it's a great approach. It's prolly best characterized as "a concise compendium of 300+yrs of the Admiralty's navigation experience" than as being "200 years old"... Climate change may reverse the direction of the Gulf Stream one of these days, but that day has not yet come.I have listened in to the call much more recently than "weeks" and there are broadcasts from Argentina, Brazil, and earlier from the Falklands that she knows about.
Stop with the Don's bullshit about 200 year old guide books. Ocean Passages is still published. I have the 1973 edition, as that was the last one that came with a chart folder, and the data has always been kept up to date. Assuming she has that one then her book is 50 years old and only fine detailed knowledge has changed in that time.
