Nevermind, just read this:Still surprised two entrants got this far not knowing how to celestial nav. Did they really not know enough to navigate the route, or just not to the level required by the organizers?
In contrast, Simon Curwen's Biscay 36 is pretty basic on deck. Simon has a Mini Transat behind him, and in the Prologue showed he has the ability to sail fast.
The list of potential front runners are sitting at about 5 or 6 I think.
Don’t forget though that while this is a sailing race, it is also a survival contest. Attrition is a big element. Those types of skills are key.Curwen will be rapid - he is IIRC still the best British finisher in the Mini Transat with a 2nd back in the early 00s
He also won the DH class in the very tough 2007 fastnet. As one of only 2 DH finishers.Curwen will be rapid - he is IIRC still the best British finisher in the Mini Transat with a 2nd back in the early 00s
Can you elaborate/post a weather map pic? Curious what you mean exactly.Looks like a very rough start this week end... I really hope the first half of the week won't destroy too many dreams.

That's monday, this is the wave prognosis, dark red would be around 4m waves, not something I would like to bash right into, even in a boat prepared for worse. I guess a boat fit for the tour should be OK in this, but here it will be against wind and wave. They will really have a tough fist week.
