Not The Caribbean
That’s my boat, did my first offshore passage, went to east Caribbean this year and when I got back in Nova Scotia a month ago, I got smashed in. Went thru crazy storms, left at the worst time last December to cross North Atlantic. Learned my lessons. Loved every minute of being offshore.

Serves you right, coming to a Canadian port.

But but but, you have insurance, that will make the hole...whole, right?

Solo gal on her Wharram. No fancy, airbrushed perfect skin clickbait thumbnail screaming for attention, video all shot on an iPhone. Seems unpretentious, the 'real deal'. Female version of "NBJS", perhaps.

She does have a Patreon, and her own site where you can read her writings: https://whereskiana.com/

WOW! that boat is...uuummm...pretty rudimentary! Good on 'er! If she wanted to play the click game she would just win going away...that girl is drop dead gorgeous. No click bait but if you watch she shows glimpses of frontal AND backal nudity!

I have been following her socials for a while now. Apparently she lived on Ontong Java II with Hans Klaar for two years then buddy boated across the Atlantic. She's just done a major refit in Florida over the last couple of years and finally back on the water.

Very much a hippy type and the other crew members are also quite interesting but certainly seems the real deal.

Anyone who keep dried herbs like that over the galley gets my vote. Not yacht clubby, but everything on that boat looks simple and efficient. Ah, if only I had nipples to deploy strategically I could be a yuuutuube star.

Hans Klaar

Honestly there are plenty of people about who'd be happy to make some major concessions for the adventure he can provide or even a wiff of his knowledge and skillset.

Well, that’s how education used to work in Greece. But it’s punishable by heavy jail terms these days in USA.

I gave that a skim. 20 something kid following the Youtube Sailing mantra: bathing suit selfies, with a big expensive boat being worked on by boatyards? How's that work?

My reality (wouldn't make $.50 on Youtube) is my daughter with a 50 year old, handed down, $1 boat. Head sail furler is in bits.
Her channel algorithmically wormed its way in front of my eyeballs (c'mon YT, figuring out what middle aged duffers want to see is like shooting fish in a barrel, where's the sport in it), and I must say the "your questions answered" video here did not answer my question, which was "who's paying for all this?"

It's me, isn't it. I'm the one paying for all this, aren't I.

Daddy told her to follow her dreams. I think he gave her a credit card too.

This girl is just totally over the top. "I want it all and I want it now." Bet Daddy gave her a Tesla when she was 16.

That Wharram is truly basic. I thought I was going pretty low-tech crossing the Pacific on my boat solo, but that's a different beast entirely. Good on her. Nobody would want to watch my videos of the trip, even if I had not soaked my iPhone at the end and fried it. But I like that she ate her flying fish. I wish I had the discipline to keep a log. I wonder if she swam at all. I'm guessing she only wore clothes for the camera. I was naked the whole way, and absolutely noone would want to watch that. I took 35 days and did not want it to end either, so spent two days sailing around the Marquesas without landing for 37 days from Panama to Nuku Hiva.

I met a family on a very sorted 52 ft Wharram in Tahanea atoll the other day, twin masts and each has a massive bimini behind it with 1kW of solar on each, and only electric motors. They sailed into and out of the passes by timing them well. Very impressive other end of the spectrum of Wharrams.

A while ago YouTube decided they wanted to keep the lion’s share of all the ad revenue YouTube videos generate instead of letting the creators keep it. Since then it seems like the primary way YouTubers generate income is through direct contributions to their Patreon accounts. At least this is my understanding of it. So a successful YouTube channel is like a big fishing net bringing its catch to the Patreon account.

Hmm... the last few times that I watched YouTube sailing videos (it was winter) I bemused by the paid ads for other sailing channels that were being shown. Google says "The average cost of reaching 100,000 viewers is around $2,000," with paid ads. So they'd need every one of those viewers to click through, and subscribe for ten episodes, more or less, to break even. Doesn't seem very likely. IDK how they're doing, I didn't click through.
