I have been following her socials for a while now. Apparently she lived on Ontong Java II with Hans Klaar for two years then buddy boated across the Atlantic. She's just done a major refit in Florida over the last couple of years and finally back on the water.
Very much a hippy type and the other crew members are also quite interesting but certainly seems the real deal.

That Wharram is truly basic. I thought I was going pretty low-tech crossing the Pacific on my boat solo, but that's a different beast entirely. Good on her. Nobody would want to watch my videos of the trip, even if I had not soaked my iPhone at the end and fried it. But I like that she ate her flying fish. I wish I had the discipline to keep a log. I wonder if she swam at all. I'm guessing she only wore clothes for the camera. I was naked the whole way, and absolutely noone would want to watch that. I took 35 days and did not want it to end either, so spent two days sailing around the Marquesas without landing for 37 days from Panama to Nuku Hiva.
I met a family on a very sorted 52 ft Wharram in Tahanea atoll the other day, twin masts and each has a massive bimini behind it with 1kW of solar on each, and only electric motors. They sailed into and out of the passes by timing them well. Very impressive other end of the spectrum of Wharrams.

A while ago YouTube decided they wanted to keep the lion’s share of all the ad revenue YouTube videos generate instead of letting the creators keep it. Since then it seems like the primary way YouTubers generate income is through direct contributions to their Patreon accounts. At least this is my understanding of it. So a successful YouTube channel is like a big fishing net bringing its catch to the Patreon account.
Hmm... the last few times that I watched YouTube sailing videos (it was winter) I bemused by the paid ads for other sailing channels that were being shown. Google says "The average cost of reaching 100,000 viewers is around $2,000," with paid ads. So they'd need every one of those viewers to click through, and subscribe for ten episodes, more or less, to break even. Doesn't seem very likely. IDK how they're doing, I didn't click through.
