I hope these people sell their boat and take up chicken farming. Or try a marina with more than 18“ of depth. In the USA, while we are busy inventing rap music and invading our own capitol, we rely on Canada to be the sensible North Americans. This video is disappointing.

How did they get that boat IN there if they can't get it out?

Only explanations I can come up with is - big storm or something silted up the channel, wrong stage of tide (if any) or maybe it was lowered from a helicopter?

I'm sure it would have been just fine if only they'd had more HP in the tow boats...

HAH, I know exactly which harbour that is and been there dozens of times, even without a vid title 1sec in knew there was ZERO chance of that ending in anything other than a giant cluster.

The Great Lakes are basically giant reservoirs that have their level set by the locks & dams of the St.Lawrence Seaway. 2yrs ago at the start of COVID there was above average high water, this year, not so much. Plus there's atleast another 2' in Spring compared to August. Even the busiest port just a few stops down the lake from where this vid was shot has maybe 3FOW, and even trailered fishing boats are bitching about hitting bottom getting out past the pierheads.

Dredging at these ports happen maybe once in 5yrs, if that. 20yrs ago it was on an 'as needed' basis, now not so much.

Well then you were doing it wrong
It was windy, and in the middle of the freakin’ ocean. What could possibly have gone wrong by jumping into the water?

My father used to have his loyal order of shellbacks certificate from his time as an enlisted Marine aboard a Navy battleship in the early 1930s. He was a skinny kid off the farm in Mississippi, who wanted to see the world. He had a sharp tongue that occasionally got him into trouble. Unfortunately, I inherited that characteristic, but not his boxing skills.

Things were a bit more rough and tumble at equator crossing ceremonies back then, apparently.

Definitely no naked chicks jumping into the water in the middle of the ocean.

Neptune would probably say “are you crazy, or just stupid?”

Most times we crossed the equator we stopped the boat and went for a naked swim.

Well except near Singapore where there was a bit too much traffic.

@2airishuman One question- how is the equipment "paid for?" Don't you take out horrifically large loans to pay for that stuff?
I bought older used stuff at auctions and from other farmers. Harvesting equipment I borrowed or paid custom operators by the acre. There's a lot of turnover of machinery, and a pretty narrow bid-ask spread. For the most part it worked out. There were one or two poorly chosen purchases that did not. I did most of my own maintenance and repairs and learned stuff helping neighbors. I think the most I paid for a machine was $10k for a newer (10 year old) smallish (80hp) 4wd tractor with an air conditioned cab, shuttle transmission, etc. Cash flow was enough to pay for this stuff after the first couple of years. I got my money out when I quit doing it.

Contemporaneous footage from your father's day...

(looks to be on a Heavy Cruiser)

its is... USS Indianapolis. Same one sunk in WWII after delivering nuke components to Tinian, and the crew had to fend for themselves against sharks for days...

Footage is from FDR’s 1936 visit to South America aboard USS Indianapolis.

here in mine (Contessa 35) in Casco Bay. Was set for scrap after raced hard, previous owner purchased and refit in 2001- 2003, and there was some writeups on it. I can try to find the article if anyone is interested. Love the boat - cramped with a crew and certainly powered up to single hand (huge headsail, high aspect main), but man, she goes great in all kinds of wind. I double hand with my wife a lot from Boston to Maine, and we reef in 10kts and still make an easy 7+ SOG on a beam reach in that breeze.

Okay, this duo is back and I don't know why, but while on one level it's a boring train wreck, on another it's quite interesting.

Is this guy Gomer or Captain Ron? What is Zsa Zsa's game? They are definitely "furriners" in the backwaters of the rural South. And following none of the vlogging formulas. As goofy as they seem, I think they'll make it somewhere with that POS boat.
