my insurance got cut by 90% this year.

I told Geico to fuck off and I self insured this year...
I’m with you, auto insurance kind of works, and in the absence of national healthcare you need health insurance even though it’s a ripoff. But all other insurance has been a waste of money for me when I think about what I spent.

Ajax, I feel you. When I said I hate everything about FL that was not an attack on long time residents. I have had family in Florida for generations. My mom, dad, siblings all moved there. I loved old FL. But that is gone. What FL is now I can’t stand. Many people are making the decision to move there, to the coast, under current circumstances, and that to me is a super bad decision. The only reason I would buy there is winter sailing. The last 10 years I have thought about getting a place there or keeping one of the houses of my parents to have a base for sailing but I am glad I didnt because it is all gone to shit. The list of fucked up shit in modern Florida is long. True of many places, truer there.

This one has it all - bikinis and bewbs, bar brawls, boat fettlin', Patreandering, an associated merch website, high drama, even a suspenseful soundtrack building loud before the sudden reveal...

Oh, wait - no, it has none of those. Got that backwards, sorry.

Just a guy, a tiny monohull boat, and a trip, tastefully documented.

Love this, thank you

Texas, next. It’s absolutely RIFE with hyperbole/stereotypes...most true :)
My mind can not accept that the interview is real and not an SNL skit.

But I won't point fingers! We elected a moron here in Maine for 4 years due to a split vote thanks to a narcissistic independent.

Then we did it again for 4 more years!

Then we found out the independent was a cono-sewer of child porn, and he's arrested.

Now the moron is running for a 3, non-concurrent term, without the child-porn spoiler, Eliot Cutler.

If the moron is taken seriously this time, I'm out of here.

Except in FL where many are underinsured because they can or uninsured because they can’t. I think my auto insurance tripled when I moved to FL.

Funny, I read this thread, but totally missed that someone was disrespecting Floridians.
Let me help you- In this thread and other threads on this forum, there is the usual Monday morning quarterbacking about people making stupid choices about where they live after a major weather event and the usual comments of "Why should I have to pay for this?"

Sailing Anarchy is a very liberal leaning discussion area and places like Texas and Florida get a lot of denigration from people here. The irony is that some of the criticizers on this forum might move to Florida when they retire.

I'm sorry that the disrespect wasn't blatant and present enough to trip your personal bullshit detector. It did trip mine.

The similarities between "You shouldn't live there" and "You had no business being out in the ocean in a sailboat" are striking. It amazes me that we shit on people for where they live yet we on this forum fiercely defend our right to hurl ourselves into the vast ocean in small plastic boats and still expect people to rescue us if we activate the EPIRB.

Every village has a political idiot these days. Few have this:

It’s happening everywhere that used to be nice. I hate what’s happened here in California so much I just want to move up to the mountains someplace where ordering a latte or avocado toast will earn you a look of puzzled disgust. But then I realize I would be just as bad as all the people who have come to San Diego and f****d it up. We’ll all look like fools when the big earthquaketsunami or wildfire wipes us out and the SA community consensus will be “serves them right”.

I looked it up, we are the fattest New England state. Massachusetts is the skinniest which explains why Mainers have always called them Massholes.

That really surprises me. The parks, the mountains, the sea. Everything about Maine screams outdoors and active lifestyles. If I lived in Maine, I'd probably lose weight.

Life must be great sneering down at people from the "cheap seats."

Gossip columnists are paid to trash other people.
Forum users do it for free.
The casual, everyday bigotry of the self-congratulatory classes.

I'd bet it's a parallel of poverty that attracts cheap highly processed foods that are sold along our main roads.

Good food is very expensive in Maine, even that which is grown or raised locally. Come winter much of what fills grocery stores has a long expensive route to travel.

Those blasted Dollar stores are stocked with non-perishable food-like products in so many remote places (although I don't know for sure as I have never been inside one :) ).

I'm in NH right now in the Lakes area; Hell is defined as the day that the Mainers get their SSI checks and swarm Market Basket in Rochester, NH. No taxes, much better grocery prices, yet strangely more expensive than Vail. Go figure.

...and rusted out pickups, excessive camo/tacticool gear, and gunz, gunz, gunz! NH is a hunter's state, but they're not *that* stupid.

It's not a successful grocery run if I don't get to harass/embarrass some asshole open carrying in a store filled with high-school trainees and senior shoppers. I'm that guy in a t-shirt offensive to "conservatives", wearing cargo shorts and Crocsiders. Unarmed but bigger than you.

Aside: When the HIMARS units get returned from Ukraine, I'd like to see them targeted here, at anything that either has "Dollar", "Waffle", or "Barrel" in its name. Let's class the joint up.
