And, in your defence, probably approximately 99.99% of videos (sailing or otherwise) posted on YT are not worth watching. I just happened to have very quickly FF’d through that one (as for almost all I come across, unless someone specifically recommends something to me; time is too precious to waste watching unvetted videos…), and randomly came across that bit at the end (where he says he’s only ever powerboated, etc).

15 minutes is a long time to sit and listen to somebody ramble on. The slim chance of getting a glimpse of some woman's private parts is a pretty small hook to swallow for 15 minutes of boredom.

It used to be a single 3-foot-long paragraph of text on the internet that someone would say, "You should read this".

My favorite cruising boat was a Tornado beach cat.

Funny, when I was a kid in junior squadron, Tornado cats were were the elite Olympic racing class. There were a lot of really good sailors at our club being very competitive, spending a lot of money, jockeying for a berth at the '76 Olympics. I occasionally crewed for one of the few female skippers on a boat she called Lady Driver...it was a gas! I still have a hard time thinking of the Tornado as a beach cat or a cruising cat.

Proper maple syrup is this size. 1L. We had about 15L across the Pacific. My wife also likes it on oatmeal.

I once brought 13 L back to our boat when we were in Mexico and took a bus back to the middle of Baja from the US. At 2 am we get stopped by an army checkpoint in the middle of the desert. We all have to grab our bags from under the bus and proceed to the inspection table. They were looking for drugs and guns (mostly guns as we were southbound)

The young army guy rummaging through my backpack kept pulling out more and more jugs of syrup. Looking increasingly concerned that I might be smuggling in something.... I just shrugged and said "Hey I'm Canadian" in Spanish. He shrugged too and put them back into the backpack!

When searching for sailing videos on xvideos.com the overall average quality of the results is higher and there is less silicone and pretense than on youtube.

The quality of the sailing content remains poor, however.

The situation is reminscient of the Hayes Code (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hays_Code) and other motion picture and television standards for sexual content. Content producers skate as close to the line as they can, and it warps their work. So we get side boob and a topless Windhippe jumping into the water with her back to the camera. And women in bikinis with rubber breasts and no sailing ability.

There's a young (30s) obstetrician and her boyfriend (husband?) who post on reddit. They have a leaky teaky and the sex is better than the boat or the sailing. I can dig up a link if anyone wants it.

Yup. The Canadian syrup is typically stronger flavoured and darker than the stuff we send south.

And the plastic jugs do not rust and are much easier to keep from spilling with snap close caps, vs those tin cans.

Probably a bit of both. I imagine they'd have better luck in Turkey or on the North African side... Perhaps time for a new boat but it won't be easy to sell that one, given how candid they've been.

Across the vast social media spectrum, bots and algorithms have infected the term, sailing. I swear to god, it's true.

Sailing is simply a word to the media AI machines. The only thing AI knows is that sailing viewers spend most of their time on frames of thongs, cleavage, side boobs, and crotches,...AI gets it.

As I am actually looking for sailing photos and footage, I've learned to fool the bots. If you want to see sailing footage or photos;

#1: Never put the word sailing in your searches, especially on Youtube.

Go in through back doors, such as; water bodies, various coastal areas, boat types (don't use SAIL-boat). Think of subjects that relate to sailing. You can fool the bots!

The hashtag sailingphotographer on Instagram gives you this lovely image on the top of the first page:
