Across the vast social media spectrum, bots and algorithms have infected the term, sailing. I swear to god, it's true.

Sailing is simply a word to the media AI machines. The only thing AI knows is that sailing viewers spend most of their time on frames of thongs, cleavage, side boobs, and crotches,...AI gets it.

As I am actually looking for sailing photos and footage, I've learned to fool the bots. If you want to see sailing footage or photos;

#1: Never put the word sailing in your searches, especially on Youtube.

Go in through back doors, such as; water bodies, various coastal areas, boat types (don't use SAIL-boat). Think of subjects that relate to sailing. You can fool the bots!

The hashtag sailingphotographer on Instagram gives you this lovely image on the top of the first page:

I don't see any sailing, in that photo. Do you see any sailing in that photo?

Does rieswolfgang see sailing in the photo?
I'm having trouble un-seeing that. But I'm trying.

Uma.....

says unprogrammed yard move wrecked their boat......

or

was it the fact that they removed bulkheads when remodelling the interior of their 50 year old yacht?

They also said that the creaking from unsecured bulkeads and floors while at sea is so bad that they wear earplugs when below

they asked several yards if they could bring her ashore and do the work themselves..... yards said no

wrong yards maybe .... or maybe the yards are getting fed up with youtubers
Thanks for summarizing - save us from having to watch the "drama".

que up the fundraising for a new catamaran - it's the formula and suckers will pay

Did he actually remove bulkheads? Dan seems smarter than that. also, despite all these serious issues he notes, they have in fact sailed the shit out of that boat through a couple of years of high latitude, remote sailing...so it actually works/ed and worksed well. if this about the dimples, who gives a shit?

All aboard the time machine, to a place where AI was a thing of Sci-Fi, men had mullets, not buns and non-smoking on flights was prohibited:

Aspasia Alpha is Tiziana nowadays. You can charter her for 65,000 EUR / week. Renting it for the 2.5 years the three protagonists spent on board back in 1987 would today cost you 8.5 million EUR.

He said they had floors and various internal keel structures removed when it was moved. I don't think the boat is a write off. He had this big project list and together it looks challenging but if you focus on the real structural issues, it's not so bad.

Too much was "and as long as we're here....we have to do this"

Could they be thinking about pulling a “Project Atticus”? 🤔

I agree... the boat has had one heck of a life. At one point he slapped a bulkhead and opined that he should have bonded it in - ditto floor boards. He mentioned that he could no longer sccess some of the chainplates without removing the interior they had built.

I am pretty sure he partially cut away from some of the structural bulkheads in the boat at some point. Also, some of the furniture appeared to me to serve as a stiffener. I am not sure it was truly structural. But it may have been helping a little bit in the stiffness department. And they cut away a lot of that also over time.

they may be architects but some architetcs are rotten structural engineers -

they regard that as a different discipline

I had assumed most had A levels in maths of physics - not true - some are out and out artists

From that brief bit of video, looks like they did a fair job. Now, on the face of it, it seems to be more a case of corporate boatyards trying to screw every penny with kickbacks from "approved" contractors.

They should find a small yard up a creek and crack on. There would be a national rising in Cornwall if someone said you can't work on your own boat in a boatyard.

Architects "So it turns out the plot of land we are building on is a little triangle but there is all this air space above we can encroach on beside a bridge. Hey you engineers, you guys figure it out OK?"

Engineers "OK sure we can help.... WTF you assholes"

Actual building in Vancouver. This is the most dramatic angle.

That should be interesting to watch when the 'big one' hits. I'd love to see the seismic modeling.
