Guess you have to define "sucks" , might be an opinion.
non sailing women is the problemIt does seem to be a commonly told story - that of the delivery skipper in a new high end boat that leaves the dock only to arrive in the Caribbean pumping and bailing, with a bunch of broken electronics and kluged repairs.
It's not like you CAN'T get a good new boat - look at Cape George and Rustler and a few others - it's just that it seems to me that that they're too boat shaped for the general buyer. There's something at work, some mojo I don't understand - ease of finance? Need to impress others? Price on the used market? Ease of sale or trade in? Need to prioritize speed over other factors?
wow, that is some sexist bullshit right there.women is the problem
my dad said - "never take your woman to view a boat - she will look at all the wrong things"
they see a cat and they see a lovely living space - big, convenient for guests, two loos, great view from the kitchen, dish washer, swim platform
they do not think about what a tough engineering project keeping two hulls and a high tension rig arallel to each other while hitting an ocean wave every 15 seconds for four days while travelling at 12 knots
D
correct - I take it all backwow, that is some sexist bullshit right there.
There is nothing really new about that. It's been going on for at least as long as I've been into sailing.everything Dylan said would have been correct if he had substituted "non-sailing partner" for "woman". Modern design production sailboats are all about lifestyle marketing rather than seaworthiness and practicality.
I think that youtue and big cats made in low labour cost areas has exacerbated the problemThere is nothing really new about that. It's been going on for at least as long as I've been into sailing.
I get what you're saying and don't read it as sexist. There are lots of miserable but agreeable wives and girlfriends out there that don't get it and don't want to get it, and that's fine. I look at all the Harleys going down the road with a wife on the back and wonder how many of them would rather be antiquing than participating in their husband's LARP of Billy Badass. But they're supportive and don't want to be a source of division. Hats off.non sailing women is the problem
My dad had a tandem when he first met my mum back before the war.I get what you're saying and don't read it as sexist. Maybe Jill would be keen on longer cruises if they were somewhere warmer than Scotland? Have you considered somewhere south of 43 N? Its tough being the captain...My own wife has gone from an enthusiastic all year round sailor to just the three hottest weeks in the summer...
It's as good as Youtube sailing gets. A thong, whoopie. At least there is a sailboat, down there.wow, that is some sex(ist bullshit} right there

No dramas with the cheap labour. this looks like unskilled and unsupervised workers.I think that youtue and big cats made in low labour cost areas has exacerbated the problem
I met a fellow with a brand new Rustler. He was suing them for a bunch of faults and repairs that the New boat had rightout of the gate. That Sucks TooIt does seem to be a commonly told story - that of the delivery skipper in a new high end boat that leaves the dock only to arrive in the Caribbean pumping and bailing, with a bunch of broken electronics and kluged repairs.
