G's young boy Jack the Buster clearly stated to spider after being brought forward on the Mumm 30:

"Dad, I want to be a grinder!"

Sailed in Maine last summer and saw the local racing fleet as we motored into Potts Harbor. Looked like an active fleet racing out past the Admiral Perry Museum - lots of old IOR boats in a diverse fleet.

Glad to see you S/Aer's and keeping it going.

How many of you made the trip to the PHRF NE's?

I saw Sheerness came down.

Monhegan Overnight this year - always a good time.

And I quote:

"Monhegan Overnight this year - always a good time."

Now, Deep breath...

...

I do believe that Webster's Unabridged Dictionary Defines the Monhegan Race in this manner:

"Monhegan Island Race: The slowest recorded passage at sea at a total of 103 NM"

(Let's now hear some comments about the infamous historic 'Slowhegan' Overnight Race.)

Well, we didn't finish on Monday morning this year. Didn't have to light the engine to get out of the way of a tanker after going about 6 miles in 7 hours. SShow Bob got a good kick out of dumping me out of my bunk onto the cabinsole.

Oh yea, we also didn't have to punch in the committee boat so that we could find it in the fog in order to start as we have in the past. Anybody else remember the committee giving their lat/lon so boats could find 'em?

Quite an outstanding year I'd say!

It wasn't so much dumping you on your head as it was haning you by your feet from the trotter box...

The kicker for me, sshow, was that you saw it coming about 15 seconds before it happened. How anyone can detect a breeze and its direction in pitch darkness is still beyond me. Musta been that cool little headlamp!

I've done a few of these and it's kind of a hit-or-miss proposition. Sometimes you have wind; sometimes you don't. If I had a nickel for every time I've heard someone say "never again," then saw them the following year at the skipper's meeting............

Serving breakfast for when you finish is a great idea, but maybe they could whitch to dinner when you get in at like 5PM.
Whatever meal they serve should be accompanied by the appropriate beverage. I mentioned to a few people this year that Bloody Marys and Mimosas would have been a nice touch at breakfast.

C Koch - Next year Assumed Risk will be serving bloody mary's on the deck at PYC. Since we plan on finishing LOOOONNNG before you we'll make sure to save you some.
