1 | ORIGINAL SIN 777 Rating Div 2 | Race Committee | | 1610 on 21/08/2022 | | FACTS 1. 200m N of the finish line a Marshal directed 777 to alter course due to an aircraft movement. 2. 777 crossed an extension of the finish line at 14:32:18. 3. Prior to the incident the RC made multiple calls to the fleet on VHF 72 and 77 to keep clear of the aircraft exclusion zone due to an aircraft movement. 4. Boats are required to monitor VHF Channel 72 and 77 while racing. 5. 777 did not hear the RC radio calls. 4. 777 sailed away as directed, and then returned and crossed the finish line under mainsail only at 14:39:09. CONCLUSIONS By not properly monitoring the required VHF race frequencies 777 broke SI 2.4 and 23.2 and by their own action lost the available opportunity to change their finishing strategy, and therefore they do not satisfy the no fault requirement of RRS 62.1. |

Looks like OS protested the Committee seeking redress under 62.1 but shot themselves in the foot by not monitoring the required VHF channels while racing. Where have we heard of that scenario before?

Wasn't doubting it with 20 knots to play with the Big Indian ain't gettin beaten by nobody. Ichi Ban got a win against Caro and Matador still up there. In fact top 3 places for the series so far Caro 7 , Matador 10 and Ichi Ban 11. There is a protest hearing on between Matador and RC
Alive and Whisper on equal points in the big boat class.
