This is not so good photo I took in September of the Wednesday Night Beer Can Race on Lake Union, which was held on a Tuesday:

Bull, that is the infamous Duck Dodge. Looks like a light participation night. It can be wall to wall boats in that small lake. I lived in a houseboat near the foreground in your picture for 8 years and raced my Lightning regularly there. On one memorable night a 12 meter, Weatherly I think, not so slowly overtook us to windward just a few feet away and left me wallowing in its loooong wind shadow. Great fun that race.

Here's a sunset from the Gulf Islands, BC

Lovely photo Eric. There were a lot of boats on Lake Union that night - wall-to-wall would describe it. We had had a few drinks that night; by the time I thought to take a photo, the race was winding down up.

Most of the residential areas in our little city are wooded, so we don't see the sunset every day. It's one of the collateral treats that comes with evening racing. My crew members have taken literally hundreds of sunset pictures over the years.

This particular picture reveals our typical sailing conditions.
