My wife that worked at a school for photography for several years reminds me, "All the instructors roll their eyes at sunset pics from the students". The message being, sunsets, lots of light, plenty of time with a camera in one hand a sundowner in the other,  are easy?

On the other hand, daybreak shots are tough! Low light for starters, high speed exposure that are grainy and slow shutter speed that is hard to hold,...Plus, there's little to no warning when the light is best, it's usually over when you realize you missed it. Plus, you have to get out of bed like you're going duck hunting.

With that let's switch to here comes the dawn. 4:52 am a few weeks ago. I think I was a few seconds late.

I got up early one morning and noticed the light. I guess bait has been in short supply, so some lobster boats poked around looking for some before heading out of their day. I was trying to get the running lights.

It's hard to do on an iPhone.

Well... I have not seen the sea in 10 months.... but you can see the reflection of a dam in this shot... mid lower right...

And what makes it truly noteworthy... a contrail!!!

First one in weeks and I live under what was the 2nd busiest air corridor in the  world (Melb/Syd/Melb)... 50,000 flights a year...

This is a Melb/Bris contrail..

Sorry about the quality but the ones out of Roswell of rare sightings aren't that flash either..

The smoke from the PNW wildfires crawled in here a few days ago, and it provided some really nice sunsets.

Then it got thicker. And thicker. We came home early because you couldn't see anything and the temperature dropped 10° C.
