War crimes in Afghanistan - Wikipedia

The fact that you can list them so easily shows I’m correct. Mistakes happen in war and passion can overrule reason and people crack. Regardless all you have to do is head over to the Ukrainian thread and review how the Russian military is operating before attacking this countries military.

Attack? Are you nuts? I didn't do all of those war crimes, the military did.

You are the one posting your google searches to point out American mistakes made under the combat stresses of war. What are you trying to prove?
You said:
Yep shit happens in war. America is not perfect, but our military reformed after that and is about as professional as it gets. When someone crosses the line they are held accountable. Do you know it was an American warrant officer flying a chopper who stopped the massacre by threatening to open fire on his fellow Americans.

I just pointed out that you are badly mistaken. Also did you know the reason why we dropped association with the ICC? It was to protect the President and Vice President, from war crime charges.

Badly? Millions of men and woman are and have been put under the stress of war for decades. You find a few incidents and condemn the whole country. Sad.
Oh and your claim is nonsense. We have never allowed international courts to judge our military. We didn’t recognize its authority long before your claim of protecting the president and VP would have been needed.

One month after the International Criminal Court (ICC) officially came into existence on July 1, 2002, the President signed the American Servicemembers’ Protection Act (ASPA), which limits U.S. government support and assistance to the ICC;

Those who misbehave in war get their due, many are in Leavenworth. Go through history and you will find the US military is often as bad as others, the list is long and shameful.

Where did I say the ICC prosecutes soldiers? The reason we dropped out of the Geneva Convention is simple, the entire world was sick over our torture by waterboarding. That's why we took steps to protect Bush and Cheney. Also, it kept guilty soldiers from prosecution.
So as you know, the ICC was formed in 1998, we dropped the association when talk of war crimes got severe.

Have you ever bothered to speak with a Native American and listened to how they view what happened to them? Not discuss. Listen.

Would you be willing to?
I was in a boy choir from 1970-75. Self funded, not affiliated with any religious or govt institutions. We did a number of bus tours around the western states and one of these was through sothern cal, arizona and Nevada. We had no money so one night we shared a dorm with 30-40 forced residents of an Apache boarding school while the 35 other residents of that dorm slept on cots in the gym. There was no melding of cultures in that dorm. We were white privileged teen goofballs stuck on a bus all day happy to be without our minders playing grab ass and telling jokes and the other guys were fucking fuming and outraged on the other side of the dorm. When the lights went out within 30 seconds I had two Apache boys trapping me in my top bunk and one of them had a knife at my throat advising me to advise the others on my group to shut the fuck up understand we were not welcome and their mates had to make room for us. They would respectfully listen to us the next day but they were doing it because they were forced to. It wasn’t hate, it was anger and helplessness. I saw that in the eyes of every Native American we saw on the trip even on top of the Hopi mesa where we were driven up in federal res vehicles the morning after a serious event for the people living there. I will likely never feel so out of place and invasive anywhere else as much as I felt there. I also felt a peace and reverence it took me years and a junior college psych course with a prof who was part cherokee to understand. The fact that some of the tribes have retained some identity, language, and custom is a miracle.

I don’t live in the past. Only America is held to the standard of what about the poor indigenous people. Plenty of native people got a raw deal around the world, throughout history. Read up about how the Comanche and Apache treated their fellow native Americans. When the Comanche would capture a tribe they brutally executed all the men and young children and cut the noses off the women to remind them they were nothing but cattle
You "live in the past". How convenient.

As for how various nations treated one another, clearly you approve of that, since you are using it as justification for them being treated horribly by the US Government.

So, acknowledging the past, including the really ugly shit we'd like to pretend never happened, has morphed into "condemn(ing) the whole country".

Interesting.
You are really twisting what I wrote. I said I DON’T live in the past as in 150 years ago and longer. What happened to the native tribes is history. You want to talk about their current problems fine. But acting like the settlers of America were any different than the colonists/ invaders of any other area of the earth throughout history is wrong. In all fairness it’s amazing they were not wiped out completely. I guess the Americans of the time had more compassion than previously shown.

Were did I pretend it didn’t happen? I freely acknowledged it in multiple posts.
The difference is while not condoning it I understand how people can let passion overcome their decency. Try talking and listening to vets that dealt with the Taliban

Herschel lurches through another episode of "I'm even dumber than you thought". This is why they have had people baby-sitting him through his pressers.
