Hurricane Kay near San Diego

Weather is hard to predict, I get that.

As Hurricane Kay meanders north the various predictions get more & more disparate.

Seems like it will be less than 30kts, maybe half an inch of rain. I guess the big question is how warm the water is & how quickly Kay will dissipate. Won't the Longshore Current kill it off pretty quickly?

TROPICAL STORM KAY-With cool SSTs covering most of the Southern California coastal waters, Kay is winding down and becoming less vertical. This will change which steering current affects the storm's track. Rain and some gusty winds are occurring in the coastal waters off San Diego and into the San Diego foothills. The core of the storm should be making a pronounced left turn as the winds around the four corner's high pressure system start to turn Kay out to sea and then eventually SSW as a remnant low. Increased seas and rain are still likely for Southern California waters and a Gale warning remains in effect for the waters off Long Beach and south. Radar as of 0715 HRS PDT Friday shows a strong swath of moderate to heavy precip from Yuma, AZ, and through the far southern California inland areas with somewhat less on the immediate coast.

Kay is likely to produce moderate to strong winds and rough seas in the coastal areas through Saturday. Consult your local weather authorities for updated warnings and advisories.
