Geeesh they have lowered the thresholds and increased the scrutiny
I miss the old days when all you knew was there was one out there and might hit in two days and instead of fear there was excitement and anticipation.

Very true. With all the money, models, computers, sensors, satellites and drunken European scientists, their forecasts still seem little better than a Scotsman's whisky-soaked dart toss.

My wife was reading the paper and told me that they “Nation Weather Service “ or whatever they call themselves are increasing the hurricane cone of projected landfall from 5 days out to 7 days out… SMF’nH .
Bottom line virtually all the deaths from a major hurricane are from storm surge so if you are not in a storm surge ( not rising water) you are probably best to stay in your home if it is a well built home.

Yeah, the National Hurricane Center has from the 5 day tropical outlook to 7 days. Be curious to see how that works out.

You have to admire the optimism.

You also have to consider that a day before it hit here, the talk was about how Charley was headed to the Tampa area.

You also have to consider that a day before it hit here, the talk was about how Ian was headed to the Tampa area.

If they get a whole lot better at a day out, I'll start to pay attention to 5 and maybe work my way up to 7.

Last year, the 5-Day forecast was only interesting in an academic sense, and damn near useless in reality.

So, the 7-Day Forecast has even less information -- and more panic. Perfect for our modern society.

The guy is reputable, do your own diligence into his background and certification.
Just the accepted science
So by his own admission: “My name is Ryan Hall. I am a professional weather analyst, storm chaser, and a dad! I love making YouTube videos about the weather and that's what I plan on doing here. Please consider subscribing.“

sounds legit to me….

This season needs to be quiet. Everyone's insurance spiked 30% or more thanks to a combo of Ian and fraudulent activity. Would be nice in FL was avoided this year so we don't have another insurance spike because of a massive hurricane making landfall.
