I asked Google's Bard to write a sea shanty about Sailing Anarchy

Boathavn

Hof & Gammel Dansk - Skål !
I asked Google's Bard to write a sea shanty about Sailing Anarchy. BARDs still working on the rhyming thing, so think of these as sort of a shouted Haiku by someone who can't count.

Votes for best version?

BARD: Sure, here is a sea chanty using the words and terms you requested:

Version #1
Oh, a sailor's life is a life of anarchy,
Sailing the seas in search of Snaggletooth's treasure.
We've been sailing for a thousand days,
And the front fell off our ship today.
But we're not giving up,
We'll just keep on sailing,
Until we find that treasure.
We'll sail to the Random PicThread,
And search for clues,
And then we'll set sail for the S.V. Seeker.
We'll find that treasure,
Or die trying,
And then we'll be sailing anarchy no more.
We'll be the ancient David,
The ones who found Snaggletooth's treasure,
And we'll be famous for a thousand days.
So come on, sailors,
Let's sail away,
And find that treasure.
The front page will be ours,
And we'll be sailing anarchy no more.
Version # 2
Oh, sailing anarchy,
Is a way of life,
For those who love the sea,
And the wind in their sails.
We sail on the S.V. Seeker,
A ship that's seen it all,
From the front fell off,
To the front page.
We've sailed 1000 days,
And we've seen it all,
From the ancient David,
To the Random PicThread.
So come all ye sailors,
And join us on our quest,
For sailing anarchy,
Is a way of life.
We'll sail the seas,
And explore the world,
And never give up,
No matter what.
We'll fight for our rights,
And defend our way of life,
And never back down,
No matter what.
So come all ye sailors,
And join us on our quest,
For sailing anarchy,
Is a way of life.
Version# 3

Oh, we're sailing anarchy
On the S.V. Seeker
We're a bunch of snaggletooth pirates
And we're off to sea.
We're looking for adventure
And we're not afraid to fight
We're going to the Random PicThread
And we're going to see the sights.
We've been sailing for 1000 days
And the front fell off
But we're still here
And we're still strong.
So come on board
And join the fun
We're sailing anarchy
On the S.V. Seeker.
We're going to see the ancient David
And we're going to have a blast
So come on board
And join the crew
Of the S.V. Seeker.
We're sailing anarchy
On the S.V. Seeker
We're a bunch of snaggletooth pirates
And we're off to sea.

Bonus (shorter):

Version #4

Oh, the front fell off our ship today,
And we were sailing anarchy.
We set out for the Random PicThread,
To find a clue to Snaggletooth's treasure.
We sailed for a thousand days,
And finally found the S.V. Seeker.
We boarded her and found the treasure,
And now we're sailing anarchy no more.
We're the ancient David,
Who found Snaggletooth's treasure.
We'll be famous for a thousand days,
And our story will be on the front page.

Version # 5
Oh, we're sailing anarchy,
And we're on a quest to find
The Snaggletooth's treasure,
That's hidden in the Random PicThread.
We've been sailing for a thousand days,
And the front fell off our ship today,
But we're not giving up,
We'll just keep on sailing,
Until we find that treasure.
We'll sail to the Random PicThread,
And search for clues,
And then we'll set sail for the S.V. Seeker.
We'll find that treasure,
Or die trying,
And then we'll be sailing anarchy no more.

A much needed change. Well done.

(I'm making an assumption here, but not clicking that damn thing. Especially given the number of Void Ho bombs I've left laying around here.)

By contrast, ChatGPT gets the form better but lacks any specific detail. Note that you could have written the below without ever having visited the site; just the knowledge that it's an online forum for sailors.

Prompt: "write a sea shanty using content from the forums section of the Sailing Anarchy website."

(Verse 1) Come all ye sailors, and listen to me, For a tale of adventure on the high sea, On Sailing Anarchy, I did see, A forum post that caught my eye with glee.
(Chorus) Heave-ho, me lads, hoist the sails up high, Let's set a course for the open sky, With salty dogs and a beer on standby, We'll make our way, sailing by and by.
(Verse 2) The forum post was about a race, Where the wind was fierce and the waves apace, A sailor shared his story with grace, Of how he and his crew won the race.
(Chorus) Heave-ho, me lads, hoist the sails up high, Let's set a course for the open sky, With salty dogs and a beer on standby, We'll make our way, sailing by and by.
(Verse 3) But then there was a heated debate, On the rules and who was first to the gate, Some sailors thought it was all great, While others were ready to berate.
(Chorus) Heave-ho, me lads, hoist the sails up high, Let's set a course for the open sky, With salty dogs and a beer on standby, We'll make our way, sailing by and by.
(Verse 4) But despite the tension and the strife, The sailors shared a love for their life, On the open sea, with no land in sight, They found freedom, and it felt just right.
(Chorus) Heave-ho, me lads, hoist the sails up high, Let's set a course for the open sky, With salty dogs and a beer on standby, We'll make our way, sailing by and by.
(Outro) So come all ye sailors, and join the fun, On Sailing Anarchy, we're all as one, With stories to share and a race to be won, We'll sail together, until the setting sun.

My Bard Google invite came a few weeks ago. Bard and I had a all-nighter slap-around session last night to understand the in and outs of rhyming. Sort of like teaching a cat to do the same thing.

Apologies in advance,

Sure! Here is a poem about sailing that rhymes on each alternating line, including the words and phrases you requested:
A MacGregor 26, sailed in the 4th mode,
Was broken by Mrs. F****, and had to be towed.
She was on a Void Ho, with a Guy LaDouche,
Who was a Shanghai sailor, with a very tight tush.
The SV Seeker, was the boat they shared,
With a bunch of tunts, who were all unprepared.
They sailed the seas, and took lots of pictures,
Of the adventures they had, they kept us all in stitchers.
At last a picture worth 1,000 words was posted, of dear Snaggletooth,
Who was as high as a bird, and found stuck in a photo booth.
He was reported missing, and we searched everywhere for yar,
Weeks and months, searching every bullrail, both near and afar.
Oh where is Snaggletooth?, all sailors were asked,
And as I still call Australia home, his finding I was so tasked.
I Found him On Craigslist, and now he's coming back,
Heroically sailing dead upwind on a very, very difficult tack.
I took him to the vet, and now he's all healed up,
He's a Mighty Merloe, a very cute looking pup.
And I'm so glad I found him, and not a minute too late,
For Brexit WTF, WTF could have been his horrible fate.
Making sense of the Front Page, when viewed high as a pigeon,
Is one of life's mysteries never understood, not even a smidgen.
Sailing Anarchy is a Big Project, but as sailors we're up for the trip,
Just as long as more Stinkpotters in Hawaii don't let their anchors slip.

Well, I think we are all safe from A/I college plagiarism for the time being…

it would be fascinating to see how the app could work out the subtleties and formalities of haiku rhyming and syntax.

one question: I’ve read ChatGPT and the other AI apps only have access and knowledge about about data sets prior to 2001. How is it that your copy of the program knows about the specific information in sailing anarchy? Are these programs able to access current data??

thanks
