I've travelled to lots of places but the only place I'd like to live other than here is Tiburon or Belvedere - if I could afford a waterfront house with a boat moored at the front deck.

The very short sunlight of Iceland’s winter takes a special kind of person. Four hours with the sun on the horizon is not enough daylight for me, and I missed the dead of winter. Still, everything was black, white or gray. This includes the birds, the beaches, ocean, cars, even the houses outside of the triangle and Reykjavik.
The safety and lack of predators is interesting, a glacier guide who lived in Indiana as a young adult and sailed the Caribbean had a fascinating childhood fishing on the north part of the island. He also watched the wind and snow on glaciers just like we watch gusts on the water, to warn us when to crouch down and grab our women so nobody got blown off the glacier.
I quite liked their attitude to liability and ice In the tourist areas. They would have a person in the parking lot to warn tourists they might want crampons to avoid going home in a wheel chair.

I will live in Montana. And I will marry a round American woman and raise rabbits, and she will cook them for me. And I will have a pickup truck... maybe even a "recreational vehicle." And drive from state to state. Do they let you do that?

The vast majority of the houses and other buildings are still white, light gray or light beige. If I lived there my house would be some dramatic colour for sure.

Perhaps the long, dark days of winter have led to an odd sense of humour. The 'Monument to the Unknown Bureaucrat' is in a prominent spot in downtown Reykjavik, close to various government offices.

We spent 2 weeks in Iceland and drove the Ring Road, beautiful and extremely expensive, BS on the happiest list and a pox upon those who make it and actually believe it.

Like Miller, everywhere I go…..I want to live. I’ve even looked at real estate in several locations and almost purchased one in Costa Rica…….I like it a bit less here in south Cali all the time. However I’m kinda tied to City of Hope now but I could be somewhere I can come back about every 6 weeks at least for now. Idaho, Montana and Colorado still interest me mildly if we keep the Cali place to winter and see the Doc from.

I just had my taxes done so maybe I’m just crabby.

What's the next best thing to owning a house in Hawaii? A sister in law who owns a house in Hawaii. And we all get along fine. They have a big house on the big island and a spare car. I also have a good friend who lives a few miles from the SIL. He has a spare room. We go out, I get my fill and come home. It's nice but I could never live there.

I've several relations on South Island NZ, I could quite happily join them. I was chatting to someone from there on Sunday when he visited our SC.

Falklands, I could live there too, having spent several months there but, life is limited, and so is sailing...

I'm quite happy where I am in Norfolk UK, having lived in a dozen places throughout the UK.

I traveled a lot when I was younger all over the place USA and Europe, India for family stuff etc

Honestly when we took another western Usa Trip in 2012 everything was so crowded it had lost a lot of the appeal it had in places like Moab that were pretty off the map in the late 1979

South Carolina allows me to hit the beach at will go for a bike ride and then drive back into civilization to see the grandchildren

The U.S. population has gone up 50% since '70 and almost doubled since '60 - everywhere is that much more crowded.
