Scot - When you wrote that you were "looking for a place to park" the boat, I hope it is on dry land. It would be be Federal offense to wet sail a bottom as beautiful as that. Not to mention the inevitable lingering doubt ... "How much quicker I would have been if I had dry sailed the boat."

Congrats  - From the video it seemed that the negotiation began the moment you stepped off the boat ( was that part of the video shoot left on the cutting room floor?)

And the Hobie doesn’t weigh much more than a feather.  Surely your club has a hoist that can lift 4000 pounds. Heck, most j24’s weigh almost that much now days.

Hobie 33 155% jibs always had to work around that wide single spreader, now you have two spreaders to deal with.

Seems like some  Code sails are in order when you are just off the breeze or in the super light.

That is an absolutely spectacular boat. Congrats!!

Congrats on the new addition!  It's always nice when the previous owner takes good care of the boat and upgrades, making your job a lot easier.

Will be interested in the changes you make, hoping you document them here.  I see a lot of folks checking out the IOR Landfill page on FB and it appears there is a lot of interest in older boats and rehabbing them/keeping them up to date.  So it is nice to see another "blast from the past" get some additional (in addition to what Rick did) updates/care.  Good luck and hope you have tons of fun.

ps   although this will probably not be answered because it is a bit akin to asking a parent what his favorite child is, but would be curious with all the boats you have owned what was your favorite and why.  Or perhaps a short retrospective commenting on what you did and didn't like on each boat.

We are all so proud of you. I often ask what is the next POS the ED will get sucked into.  In Fact, that is all everyone in the Sailing World thinks about. Bet you will wish that you were racing the Old Clorox Bottle Ericson at the end of the day next year.  On the other hand, where is the Sprit and the A kites.....

Please make sure to use the super top secret bottom paint....It's made by Benjamin Moore.

Cool boat.  A lot of time and effort went into making it what it is.

Back to 33 ft long boats!!!

I wonder how it compares to the Flying Tiger on paper?  You have had a couple those.

I am guessing more sail area than the FT10?

no, no. no more slips at the club, they play that tight and yes, i know the list is fucking long. the hoops i had to jump through to get my slip were unbelievable.
But we know someone with ............................................

I would keep the current boat name...Captain Sluggo just has a new caretaker now.
^^^ This ^^^

keep the Captain Sluggo on the sides and maintain the Lineage

You WILL one day be selling it

it will be worth less as the once  CS then former A6

Do "This" but make the A-6 logo fit better..

you will have a choice when you sell it .....

Will Be Worth MORE if you keep the CS branding w your Vid adding it's future records.

Do NOT Step the Mast yourself for many reasons

it's going to the cabin floor being the 1st

Not a local, so not aware of any sort of Captain Sluggo legacy. Not a name I would put on a boat.

Anarchy on the other hand has a huge worldwide legacy and would in my mind make the boat worth more..... if legacy actually was worth something more?

One vote for Anarchy here.

I'm a little surprised he went 'retro' - but that boat is so comprehensively re-worked I don't know that still counts - I know the design is 40 years old but it was ahead of it's time - and,  well the rating IS pretty well established,  although I don't know how they'll whack you for that rig.

But I dig it.  Love the H33 and I love that it got the re-do they deserve.  (how's that engine mod?  what the heck must THAT have run???)

For those kids among us that haven't seen it,  the high speed footage  Warren Miller got of them dropping one is awesome.

There is nothing Hobie 33 about that boat but it's cool as hell. Sure, it's made from an old H33 carcass and keel but absolutely everything else has been improved to a very high standard. Can you race it in the Hobie 33 Nationals? That would be a big fat NO. Can you race Coastal and Offshore events and win? That would be a big fat YES. Sluggo is a boat that took everything wrong with the Hobie (cockpit/engine bay/mast/boom/rudder/deck layout/interior) and made it WAY better in a completely custom, professionally designed and built modern package. It was done right plan and simple.

I've seen so many butchered Hobies, the asking price was a bargain for what you got.

Rig is set up for jibs, not overlapping sails. Main is much bigger than stock and doesn't need any more sail upwind.

Code 0 sheets nicely inside the lifelines and can be used upwind in light condition.
