Yes everyone goes to Melbourne for its beautiful beaches. You must have missed the announcement over the PA at the boat club.
'Don't take the brown acid'

Might be better not to mention beaches though, in your situation.

Melbourne - St Kilda beach a few km away.

Sydney - Bondi, or Manly ignoring the harbour beaches.

Hobart - Bellerive. Though this is stretching it, I'd admit. But it *is* a decent beach.

Perth - Cottesloe.

Brisbane - err, well, Brisbane doesn't *actually* have a beach at all. It's a muddy river city.

Coming to Melbourne for the beaches is no different than moving to Brisbane for the culture.

Both places have advantages and disadvantages. At least they are not Adelaide.

How many go to Brisbane for its beaches, the same number, actually less.

How many locals pop down to the local beaches for a quick swim, take the dog (4 legged type) Brisbane SFA, melb plenty.

It’s only the surfer types who have to drive an hour or two to get wet as opposed to Brisbane where it’s everyone who wants to get wet.

If you want less crowded and don’t need the restaurants and cafes, port melb and Albert park are closer and a short tram ride from the cbd.

Sydney - Bondi, or Manly ignoring the harbour beaches.
Bondi has the “reputation” but you have to take shit roads to get there, so manly my ferry is the better option.

Hobart - Bellerive. Though this is stretching it, I'd admit. But it *is* a decent beach.

Perth - Cottesloe.
There are a few other nice beaches north of Freo.

Brisbane - err, well, Brisbane doesn't *actually* have a beach at all. It's a muddy river city.
It’s a long muddy walk to the water at the wrong tide for the dog.

At least Anna is spending hundreds of millions upgrading the M1 north and south for the weekend escapes.

Btw I thought your dealings with Meli would make you smart enough to see through an ABC bullshit headline.

Sadly not..

We moved here expecting compromises, losing some advantages of Melbourne whilst gaining advantages that come with here.

What we did not take into consideration was the attitude of the people here, especially directed to my wife.

After a race, she and my daughter went to the clubhouse ahead of me. Started talking to a table of sailors and when she mentioned we’d moved up, one fucker said we were not wanted and should move back.

Many times she has noticed a change in attitude once she has told them which suburb we live in. Petty jealously.

She has had to leave 3 jobs because of racism and bullying from the women in the office. She had one interview with two site visits and then was denied the job, because when pushed, was told it they wanted an Australian.

Brisbane could be a nice place if it wasn’t for the Xenophobic, racist and jealous section of the population.

We have assumed that this was isolated to the low education trash of the population, as I don’t see the same attitudes at my work. However I just recently discovered who after the race made the comment and realised his share of a boat was perhaps worth as much as my boat. And now your remarks suggest that the attitude is more widely spread.

We are finding more and more people who have suffered from what I thought was an unaustralian mentality.
Where's your wife from?

I thought you said you had been to Brisbane? Next time, maybe leave the CBD. You know there is a beach at Southbank right across the river?
