If you make it a badge of honour that we have to earn, there will be competitions.
I'll pull 'Scorn with added Vitriol'* off the shelf.

* it's a book, so unlikely that you would be aware of it.
You're right, it would have been weeded long before my time.

I disagree. There needs to be an alternative voice/viewpoint from the other side of politics at National Cabinet, or whatever they call it these days. Group Labor think is dangerous for the country imo, as is group Liberal think.
True, I totally agree.
but,
What's worse? one party in power all over the country or rotten state governments?

The opposition can't seem to move away from old boys and picket fences and nudges and winks.
They can't change and can't even see the need for change within even what they've been smacked across the face with numerous dead Mackeral.
Federally, they only won last time because Shorten is unlikable. Labour were and are the more competent and in tune mob.
So what to do?

This might shock you, but there are people who own books themselves, and read them. They are not just toys to stack, like grome up remedial lego.

Heretical, I know, but some of us find it broadens our minds.
This might shock you, but I had a home library at the old house. A whole room full of books.
I've still got favourites for sentimental value but who needs a library at home when you work in one? I really don't need copies of Under The Hook or Keating, gathering dust.
Anyway. I have a new job for now. :0

No surprise at all that you talk about owning books in the past tense, and make no claim to having read them.
I'll ask a simple question.
Why would I work in a low pay job in a library when I could be working in my old job with Comp insurance and earning x2 the money?
Could it possibly be because I've been a lover of literature since I was about 10?
FKT likes to make a thing about my refusal to read his recommendations.
I ask you, If I told you you should read a book I own and enjoyed, say
Josiah Wedgwood: Entrepreneur to the Enlightenment.
Would you?

I voted yesterday. Don't really care who wins this time around though I hope it's the LNP only because of their gambling change policy. Anything that makes losing money in poker machines etc harder is going to get my support. The ALP is definitely on the side of the money launderers and ripoff merchants here.

False equivalency.
People point out stuff that you should read AFTER you have been bloviating on a topic you clearly know nothing about.
If I'd expressed firm but completely incorrect opinions on making crockery pre 1900s, then you could point me at that book. But I don't think I have.

(And if it was sitting around, I would likely read it. But it isn't something I'd search out as I have no particulr interest in the topic)

I see Meli is oversharing her dull life again. I also noted that she had quoted me and replied.
So the sequence of steps for her to do that would be...
1/ logout to peek at what we are all saying.
2/ Demonstrating the self control of a fat kid locked in a lolly shop, she just can not resist biting on one of my baits.
3/ Log back in.
4/ unblock me.
5/ Quote me and respond.
6/Post then put me back on ignore so I can't see what she said.
7/ Light up her 15th winfield red for the day and hug herself with delight.

Dan and Anna do love the pokies money
It has been observed many times that gambling and in particular gaming machines are a tax on stupidity.

And it's concentrated in electorates where the population has, generally, less spare money to lose.

The conclusion I draw is that the ALP despises the poor and is happy to take money off of their exploiters.

And Meli supports them wholeheartedly.

She doesn't have to log out, all she has to do is click the 'stop ignoring' option against a post as I doubt she has us on complete ignore.

If you do it that way, you can see the normally ignored posts in the current thread, then reply, but it only lasts as long as you're reading that particular thread and the double-secret bit still applies.

I know this because I sometimes un-ignore Randumb, downvote him a bunch of times, then go back to ignoring him. If I'm right he can't do a fucking thing about retaliating (not that I'd care) as he can't see any of my posts to downvote unless he does it from a different login.

Yes, I do get bored and little things amuse my small mind...

Fair enough but, it doesn't mean one is either stupid, generally ill informed or unwilling to learn.
There are many things to learn and most people are selective.
FKT for example has stated he's not good with languages and should I suggest he read Baudelaire in the original to appreciate it, he'd likely decline.
I doubt he'd be interested in learning modern Greek history and the political movements behind it.
I wouldn't get all huffy and accuse him of being willfully ignorant and too stupid to expand his understanding of Greece .
I'm learning Greek. Language, History and Culture. It's hard, especially when one is over 50 and hasn't studied for many years.
I know FKT's type. Pompous and self congratulatory. I doubt he has much interest in improving himself.
