I still call Australia home

It has been observed many times that gambling and in particular gaming machines are a tax on stupidity.

And it's concentrated in electorates where the population has, generally, less spare money to lose.

The conclusion I draw is that the ALP despises the poor and is happy to take money off of their exploiters.

And Meli supports them wholeheartedly.

FKT
People who play the pokies are almost as stupid as people who smoke. Meli probably does both.

That shit needs to get fixed.

The health system has been underfunded forever and it's finally said "fuck it!".

Medicare is dead.
It certainly needs overhauling.
In principle it's a good system but people's expectations have changed over 50 years.
There's a lot more over 50's people need to be able to keep working for longer and a lot more recognition of mental health needs.
GP's do a lot more preventative work now, certainly the fee schedule needs reviewing

I havn't seen Randy around for a week or so. Then he may have me on double secret, nancyboy, pussy ignore.

I was in the basement, just got out. Apparently someone got upset about me reposting of Biden saying that he would end Nordstream if the Russians invaded ... in a thread speculating who blew the line. Looks like quoting Biden is disinformation.

So I just reposted it.

Americans are such soft cocks.

That was quick.
Western Sydney punishing the government.
Memories are longer than politicians think.
And Northern Sydney with 2 or 3 Independents ahead or winning after long-standing Lib members retiring. Obviously the NSW Libs didn't learn much from the Federal election last year.

Oh well, there you have it Meli, a red wave across the country. As I said last night I think that's a bit dangerous, but it won't last, the pendulum will start to swing the other way one day.

Or from Victoria.
It may not, well not in the way I think you mean, Libnats V Labor/Green
Unless the Libs can get their heads around the fact that they are out of touch with the electorate in so many ways, they are dead. The only thing I can see is more coalitions and more extremism and more independents. Is that a good thing? I don't think so.
The Labor party may well become the party of stability and reason.

Very disappointing that Labour State/National still are not banning new coal and gas. Nothing matters until that happens.
Well until we can get sufficient alternatives up and running, it's not exactly something that can be banned overnight I guess.
New coal for export certainly has to go ASAP.
I can't comment because I don't know much about the details of how and why.

Well, what more do you need to know, other than burning that shit is killing the only planet we have? You can do better than that Meli.

I have resisted 'flight shaming' you.

It's cyclical.

It's cyclical.
It is, but Meli doesn't seem to think so. She seems to think the ALP is the party of stability and reason.

Meli if you were 20 something and didn't have the experience of someone who has experienced the variable cycles in Federal and State politics I'd give you a pass, but you're not.

Granted the Libs haven't learnt their lesson yet, but they will and then the pendulum will swing. Always has, always will.

The speed of the progress train may change, but it's forever moving forward.
It's forever moving anyway.
I think we need to redefine what counts as forward.
Exploiting non renewable resources can't be seen as progress anymore. So while opening up a new oil field was seen as commendable 100 years ago, we can't see that as progress anymore.
