Oh dear. The libs really are on the nose.
Labor has won a by-election in the federal seat of Aston in Melbourne's outer eastern suburbs.

Key points:

  • Labor has won a federal by-election in the seat of Aston in Melbourne's outer east
  • The election result is widely considered a "devastating" loss for the Liberal Party
  • The loss is being seen as an indictment on the Liberal Party and leader Peter Dutton

The result is considered a devastating blow for the Liberal Party, which now only holds two federal seats in metropolitan Melbourne.

It is the first time in more than a century that a government has won a seat from the opposition at a by-election.

So much for Meli's red wave...

NSW Labor fails to win majority in election as Terrigal and Holsworthy called for Liberal party

Key points:

  • Terrigal has been won by the Liberals with a lead of more than 1,000 votes
  • The Liberals are ahead in Ryde due to a large number of postal votes counted on Saturday
  • Antony Green has called Holsworthy for Liberal Party candidate Tina Ayyad
  • Meli is a fucking moron

That would have to be up there for one of the most racist and dumb things you have posted here.

Great little state Victoria...

Faces of hate: Melbourne Nazi salute protesters outed as part of disturbing far-right group

The identities of multiple members of a sinister far-right extremist group based in Victoria have been outed as the threat of Neo-Nazism explodes.

As a result of the NSN’s actions, Victorian Attorney-General Jaclyn Symes revealed that the state would increase current legislation banning the Nazi swastika to include the Nazi salute.

The NSN is an Australian neo-Nazi political organisation allegedly formed in 2020 from two far-right organisations, the Lads Society and the Antipodean Resistance.

While the NSN is based it Melbourne, it boasts of being active in all six state capitals and several regional cities across Australia.

Gosh! The ABC is not black enough for Stan...

Stan Grant's anti-racism war over the ABC's 'entirely white' election panel only makes reconciling with our colonial past harder

One hesitates to discourage Stan Grant from ticking off his employer for the consistent lack of diversity.
Few outside the ABC’s shrinking TV audience would dispute that it reflects the views of an educated, inner-metropolitan left-wing minority who largely live within a 10km radius of their studios.

Grant this week criticised the homogeneity of the NSW election night panel: David Speers, Sarah Ferguson, Anthony Green and Jeremy Fernandez.

Labor was represented by state frontbencher Penny Sharpe and the Coalition by Matt Kean.

Grant’s beef, however, was not the absence of conservatives or country dwellers or independents.

His complaint was that they were “entirely white”.

Except for Fernandez of course but he, in Grant’s estimation, had only played a “cameo” role, despite featuring in the ABC’s promotional material.

“In 2023, how is it at all acceptable that an election night coverage features an entire white panel?” Grant wrote in a letter to ABC managing director David Anderson that was leaked un-mysteriously to Crikey.

“There is no excuse for what I saw on air last night. None. I have worked at organisations around the world and nowhere would what we presented last night be tolerated.”

For decades the ABC had “nurtured and promoted white staff at the exclusion of others”, he wrote.

“The fact that any journalists of colour in our coverage were ‘off Broadway’ in support roles, reporting from the suburbs, only adds to the insult.”

Grant has fallen for the dismal narrative that race is a black-and-white matter in which the value of human individuals is recalibrated according to the crudest measure of ethnicity.

By condemning the panel for the paleness of its skin, he redefines Australia as neither mono-cultural nor multi-cultural.

The end-point of the racial essentialist narrative that seeped through our universities to infect the modern left is that Australia, like the US, is a bi-cultural nation of two warring tribes: whites versus the rest.

He could have just lent them some of his make up...

Someone should point out to Stan that appearing on TV in blackface is totally unacceptable in this day and age.
Hmm, maybe when he was younger he used skin bleach to lighten his looks.
This was not uncommon for young indigenous people wanting to get ahead in a white mans world.. Sad. Who knows,? Being from SA, I thought you'd know that.
This is Stan in 20 years ago

If you're pulling my leg, that's ok.
Bit sad to see you on that tack. You're better than that.

That makes you at least a 1/32nd African.

I'm thinking that @LB 15 has way more than that. He's at least the same as you plus 1/8th Aborigine from what I have seen. Just in denial, not realising it's now kool.

I guess the dumb fuck has been gloating about Aston. The jokes on her as it's another nail in Dutton's leadership and it is Dutton who makes Albo seem appealing.

The "historic" seat loss plus the next election loss will ensure Dutton gets the boot. Hopefully Frydenberg challenges Kooyong where Monique Ryan is probably getting on the nose and takes over the Libs leadership to rebuild the party.

and 1/32 arsehole :D GG granddad brought his three kids back to the yeoman farm in Linconshire. I don't believe for a minute that this was altruistic, just free labour. But he did leave his estate to his eldest son.
Actually, she was not a nice woman either. Fanny Van Der Broek. That would have been her owner's name. My GG Grandfather was just the plantation manager.
Being the Housekeeper and mistress, she starved and beat the other slaves and their children.
There's a report in the British parliamentary papers. Slaves in British colonies were allowed to make formal complaints to the local commissioner which had to be passed on to parliament.
Fascinating history.

My Great grandfather.
Nothing cool about it. it is what it is.
All of our genes have mingled over the generations.
That's the "downside" of a patriarchal lineage system. You never know who your daddy was. :D

My Great Grandmother (one of 4 of them) was a child of emigrants from 'The Clearings' in Scotland. I just remember her.

She was so tight from poor experiences growing up, that when she made porridge for us, she would not let us put our own brown sugar on it. She had to do it for us, because we might use too much. They were pretty well off by then, house on the water in a flash part to Lake Macquarie NSW.

Yeah. My dad's family were from the borderlands.
My great aunt, though reasonably wealthy by most standards in the 1960's would only give us half a banana and cut lollies in half.
Poor people have long memories.
