from some negative posters on this thread one might believe that owning a boat is a burden and not worth the candle.

I fekkin love owning a boat....

it gets me to places I could never reach without it

I get to wake up in some astonishing scenery

I read better books and listen to better music on the boat

I meet interesting strangers

the cabin is the cosiest place anyone could ever imagine to be on a cold winter night

the cabin is the coolest place to be on a hot summer night

the wildlife is marvelous

I get to see lots of sunrises.... and they are always better than sunsets

worth every single penny I have ever spent on sailing.

Congratulations! She is a beauty. I agree with you on getting rid of the junk on the trunk. But, also, as others said, just store it on your farm. I would also add to the chorus of people saying, keep the bimini. You will really enjoy having it. You can stow it for sailing if you want, but having it when you are on the hook and its a rainy day, or hot as balls, having the protection will be really handy.

I'm wiring a joystick to mine.

We used to drive the big ship via a joystick operating the steering motor, worked fine.

in the center , underneath the autopilot compass is the joystick

typically used to dodge something in the water ahead

My avatar picture is a November sunrise off Montauk Point. In general I don't like being up early mornings, except when at sea. That morning watch is magical, watching the sunrise from the helm with a nice hot cup of coffee.

it is owners priviledge to claim the dawn watch when on passage.

In the winter I also love standing in my wheelhouse - in the hot updraft from the Taylor - while watching the sun rise and the migratory birds re-positioning themselves as the night gives way to day. A touch of ice on the decks just adds to the pleasure.

I find sunrises to be more personal. Harder to catch than sunsets, the curtain goes up quickly, without warning, and a zillion moments of changing light flash by in just a minute or two.

Anybody can see a sunset.

fisher 25, hunter minstrel 22, 17 foot canoe, three toppers, two dinghies

I am very bad but very happy

all plastic though so they are no liability. The toppers only get used in the summer when the wider family are here.

windows are 50 years old and fine - touch wood.

The wheel house hatch and fore-hatch did leak a little - captain tolleys creaking crack cure saw to those. I still have a leaky stanchion base - captain tollies failed to cure that - and I cannot get to the underside of it unless I take a saw to the furniture.

all round.... ideal boat for a bloke my age who likes winter sailing.

The one I saw was in the Mediterranean …sunburnt hatches and windows

it was a 37 with an odd interior layout ..port side aft cabin was turned into a workroom..bench, storage cabinets , lighting ..when originally build

I liked it …nice boat

Well if we are counting all the little ones I have a few more. Good thing about the little ones is they aren't bleeding you dry each month in moorage and maintenance.

the minstrel 22 foot is on a trailer on the drive

the fisher is on a parish mooring - £120 a year - plus £150 for maintaining the mooring. The toppers are stacked like books beside the garage, ditto canoe, the dinghies are on trailers on the drive as well. Reversing out in the car is a bit of a slalom backwards avoiding dinghies and trailers. I live in a sailing village so there are plenty of other people whose drives are boat parks.

Same here. Except it's a Dickinson.

Wheel houses are like a heat magnet. Would not have a cruise boat without one (up North).
