Also I'm curious if someone tried to make a canting keel on i550, you know like on mini proto?

I'm in no way shape or form going to try it, just curious.

I bought a similar boat to an i550 last year and it has a spare double spreader carbon rig (23’ P )  as well as a Carbon/Aluminum smaller double spreader mast (20’ P)

Both rigs have all the standing rigging plus some spares.

The tall rig has a North Black Carbon mainsail from a Melges 20, Carbon weave jib and a pretty new Mylar jib.

Would like to sell as a package but can sell separately.

The boat is pretty wide for it's length, with a lot of form stability.

The keel weight doesn't really come into plat until you're at ~45degrees, and that's when the side panel catches it from going further.

I'd say it's the wrong design for a canting keel.

It's probably better to stick with your current 'interests'.

Just a "Straw Poll" about how much interest there may be about partial builds of an i550 hull, keel with bulb and rudder. The purpose is to encourage clubs, youth programs and those without tools, space and time to get involved with sailing at a lower price point.

A builder in France is having absolutely no success with the ORC there in getting a rating, even provisional one for his i550. I have furnished the ORC with files and drawings but communication has just plain stopped with the office. The builder is an amateur and a good guy. His frustration is mine as well. Just how much effort would it be to assign a provisional rating near the value of a First 18? Without it he is likely to be kept out of club competition. The non response is insulting.

Recently, someone in Croatia bought i550 plans & a hull license. The hull license clearly states that the license is for one build only.

We were rudely surprised to see that individual on a front page article of SA, saying that he was selling completed boats and kits for the i550.

We have owned the design (intellectual property) of the i550 design since 2008. These exclusive rights were conveyed to us by the designer whom we compensated for the design. We have never given up ownership of the i550 design to anyone for commercial use without prior contractural agreements.

Timber, I used to get ripped off all the time. I you have a friend that can write you a cease and desist letter on a law firm letterhead, that is about all that you can do. Good luck. You could also bar and non paying builders from getting legit sail #s in the I550 class.
