Home port is Stuart, about 1/4 mile from the St Lucie River, west of the lock.

Having ridden out Typhoon Hester, having seen the destruction of Hurricane Michael, having toured West End park ONE YEAR after Katrina, having seen the destruction of our boat after Sally and even the destruction around our home after Hurricane Laura and Rita, 200 air miles from the coast, and lets not forget that little ‘darlin’ Camille.

Warning to Jacksonville area peeps: Like last time, this storm may dump a lot of rain that ends up following the river to Jacksonville and flooding areas not officially in the storm track.

There may be a real conundrum even as we close in on Wednesday morning as to where this storm is going to end up. The steering currents are a mess when looking at a model "concensus" (There is very little). I can't stress enough how important it is to be prepared for just about anything with this storm. If the steering currents dissappear on final approach, the winds could drive a LOT of water into the back bay area of Tampa at the same time, copious amounts of rain will be trying to make their way down the gently sloped tributaries that enter into said Bay. Where the two competing flows meet, it may turn pretty ugly. Between the floating islands of fire ants and the swimming critters in that part of the world, you don't want to have to go into the water if you can avoid it during this event.

There has been a small shift to the right this monring in the model concensus. This shift may or may not stick. I am hopeful for Tampa Bay and areas north if this trend continues.

On you way OUT, dont forget to move your boat and trailer to a relatively sheltered spot, drop the rig and tie the boat down securely.

Or you could do like about 50% of the boaters in my marina did and just do nothing and leave me and a few others running around all night mid-hurricane adding lines your boats to keep them off our boats

Yes but you are on the Chesapeake...I think that percentage rises to 80% in Florida.
