At least one of them seemed to know what he was talking about...Mojo should be commended on his participation, nicely handled. It isn't easy to remain positive and encouraging when faced with a crowd of really ignorant people giving terrible advice.
boats can/will suck money out of a black hole.
Two out of three of those statements are factually impossible. Pick the two impossible conditions (and why) and you'll get a prize from Teaky's bottom right desk drawer. Now if it had a really hot blonde with very little on holding a martini,
Pre planning hull? How about no planning. A lot of nice hard chines to plane on though.it's got to be a Melges 24's ugly sister pre planning hull.
It's about 20', in England, and I don't know much more. Bloke on another forum bought it and is trying to figure out what it is. I'm just trying to help him avoid doing something stupid with it (like take it for a nice sail in the Channel).

I don't even know where to start looking.
I hate when I do that.Looks like the deck was attached to the hull the wrong way round.

Looks like an Excalibur 36, a '60s Van de Stadt.Well we all have the hate on for this 4ksb. This picture has a boat off the port quarter tied to the sea wall. NOW WHAT IS THAT BOAT ? Blue dodger and chrome dorades.
No. If they are to remain tight during stepping of the mast, such stays have to be attached someplace in the extended line of the pivot pin around which the mast rotates. Those are forward and below. The mast can't go back unless they are released.it is ugly and slow, but i am curious as to whether or not that mast pivots back underway and the two baby for-stays are to stabilize it.
Or a couple dozen chickens. Coop it, I say.It is ugly, but mainly because it's trying very hard to be something it's not.
The hull is a GRP pastiche of a gentleman's pocket cruiser from the 1920s or 30s, the hull shape gives lots of interior room, sufficient for one or two gentlemen to live comfortably when in port or safely at anchor in some secluded backwater.
The guy seems nice enough. I didn't want to subject him to this place.Eh this suggestion could catch a bit of flak but whatever.....
Maybe we should suggest on that forum that he comes over here for some advice? Being made aware of course of the ridiculous bollocking he will get first....
It's a watch forum, unlikely to be full of experts on boats, and here is as full of at least people who think they are..
Or shall we just just go "fuck it" and take the bollocking to him? Field trip anyone?
