Please continue to ignore but it appears after further review there were [note past tense] two Deacon Joneses, both of whom are reportedly still dead.

Full disclosure: the dude on the advertising sign on Hwy 70 going toward RDU always struck me as paler in complexion than how I remembered Deacon Jones, American footballer, whom I saw play quite a few times in Los Angeles.
Stats are hard to find but from photos, car dealer Deacon [Bobby] Jones doesn't appear to have been 6'5" and 272# as was Deacon [David] Jones in life as chronicled here:
If still ignoring this, note that Mr. Jones is on the right and the soon-to-be-victim is thought to be Gary Wood, 5' 11, and basically a nobody in Giants history. Mr Wood died for good in 1994.
