The Laser Class will soon have some vacancies in their leadership.

Both Beat Heinz (chair) and Andreas Döring (executive secretary) will resign at the next General Meeting.

This seems like a great opportunity for Wess!

Members only: FREE tickets to the upcoming Zoom meeting (Saturday Oct 30 at 1400 CET).

Who would want to pass that up...
wonder how the AGM went.......

Nothing at all on the website indicates tge meeting even happened.
Perhaps they disbanded.
looks like the outgoing LaserClass chairman has gone ILCA already

Wasn’t  most of this thread about Wess’ desire for the Laser Class to suffer??
Oh come on Gouv. Stop being ironic, your just joshing with me now lol.

You, better than most , Know the difference between the international LASER class association with its history going back decades and the year old ‘ The Laser class’  :D

Anyway happy sailing what ever you want to call the boat.

RIP ‘ The Laser Class ‘

Years ago, when all this bullshit started with LP, many of us , including Bruce Kirby, suggested we simply change the name of the boat and continue.
   The ILCA officers saw a way to do what they have done instead.

In the meantime one thing has remained the same:

North American singlehanded sailing needs a well funded, enthusiastically run, absolutely supportive to the racing game, supplier of inexpensive durable singlehanded one design sailing toys.

Gouv.

So true and I couldn’t agree more .

But at least you have a class association that on the up at least plus you have a supply of new boats, on the other hand I cannot ever see a time in NA when you have a builder that gives you the level of support that performance sailcraft gave you in the past.

Re the the price of a ILCA. Unlike most people on your side of the pond , I don’t think they are any more expensive than they ever have been if you take inflation into account.

List prices of boats in the uk;

Ovington ILCA = £5995

Aero and Dzero @ = £9000

Solo = £10000

Phantom = £11000+

And I say this as a man that’s just spend £7200 on a 2019 Dzero  :D

With the Element6 ILCA's available in Australia now, we've actually had a significant price drop compared to the old PSA Laser prices.  The sails have dropped in price for the first time in a very long time also

After an extensive evaluation process analyzing every single detail of the boat both on and off the water we are glad to announce that The Laser is officially being produced in Portugal!

Very true it’s only just been announced.

But everyone with any interest in LP in my part of the uk knows lasers haven’t been made at Long Buckley for at least a year .

Those will be picked up (at a discount) by resorts etc.

Not sure how big a market that will be.

I see a lack of “doing the things I believe are necessary to build the game.”

a few people are doing some stuff locally but I simply do not see any of the National or North American level support ( I think is fundamental and necessary)  from anyone.

Scott W has done an excellent job as secretary of District 11. I am confident he will do the same at the North American level.
