For the framers...Brick wall, interior framed for dry wall. Other than offering more stud area for drywall, is it worth the trouble replacing the two undersized "scabs",

I would. If not cut pieces that fit the gaps and secure to the scabs. Either is better than that crap.

You could put decent sized sisters on the outsides of the originals and secure them properly. I’d be tempted to put in a header with a couple cripples and call it a day. Then you could have a niche for “stuff”.

Or, if it’s not load load bearing and it’s only for nailing drywall…….ignore it.

Licke I saide earliere; Thet ivey ist some eville shitte!
Depends if it is Boston Ivy or English Ivy.

Image result for boston ivy vs english ivy

How to tell Boston ivy from English ivy? English ivy (Hedera helix) is evergreen, while Boston ivy is not. Autumn foliage on English ivy remains a dark green; it does not turn red, as does Boston ivy. English ivy is also a considerably more aggressive plant that can grow to 100 feet or more.

Yeah. Fill in the void and use screws not nails, just for fun.
appreciate the tips !

fitted pieces in gaps, sisters cut 36" as wiring restricts a longer length, securing; distance between these studs not standard, tight spaces getting 3 1/4" 16d nails in the sisters, temporarily cross brace(s) between studs to absorb the nailing... Since non load, is using screws still a no-no?

- better approach

cheers

I feel your pain, my daughter bought a 120 year old house 18 months ago and gutting/redoing the kitchen last year was interesting, but nothing compared to tearing out and overhauling the bathroom; improperly sistered and origami stud work abounds. The sketchy adaptations made to a house that was originally built without plumbing are interesting to say the least. I heard Gomer in my head non-stop for a month.

Heard a story on the radio today about a couple who were having trouble with their shower leaking.... They decided to renovate. Lo-and behold! they tore down a wall in the shower, and found a whole nother shower stall behind it!.
That explained the real estate listing of "2 br 2bths, 3 shwrs"..... That no one could figure out.
