I'm going to Turks n' Caicos...

I'm going to drag some of the family to Turks and Caicos later this year. My wife and I spent a week at Northwest Point Resort (Provo) a few years ago and loved it. Is it worth checking out some of the other islands, or is Provo where its at? We're active people, looking for interesting stuff to do, as well as some beach time. Anyone been? Any suggestions?

Interesting = scuba, snorkeling, kitesurfing, hiking, exploring

Cheerio!

Been there multiple times and love it. Provo is the place, and Grace Bay is the place to be. Things to do:

1. Rent a Jeep and head out to Malcolm Beach.

2. Snorkle at Coral Gardens (turtles, nurse sharks, lots of fish, octopus, rays, etc. - see Matthew at the Coral Gardens dive shop) and Smith's Reef.

3. Snorkle or dive the barrier reef.

4. Dinner at Hemingway's and watch for JoJo.

5. Take a boat tour to Middle Caicos to see the limestone caves.

6. Take the Jeep to some of the "local" beaches on the Carib side of the island.

7. Enjoy the beach.

8. Drink rum.

9. Rinse and repeat.

Pretty quiet and low key place, but very pretty.

Great, thanks! Do you guys tend to resort it, or rent a house?

See my edited post.

We have always stayed at the Coral Gardens property. It's a small place with condo type accomodations. We'd get a 1 bedroom "suite" that is about 1,800 square feet overlooking the water. We came to know the people working there (they were the same year after year) and it felt like a second home. We also liked the snorkling right off the beach. It's been a couple of years since we last went and there have been some new places built.

Add deep sea fishing to the list of things to do.

The Bay
We went to Grand Turk about 10 years back and it was a very sleepy island but the diving was great and we had a very nice trip. However, I heard a rumor that they have since put in a big cruise ship terminal which would totally screw that place up.

It's no rumor.

We dove out at West Caco's. Great diving, sharks, rays, turtles. Make sure you ask them to take you there.

We stayed at Seven Stars in Grace Bay. Nice place.

Have lunch at the Conch Shack.

Heading down in Oct to visit daughter who's spending a semester on South Caicos. Any suggestions for where to stay on Grand Turk? That seems to be where she wants to go.
