Come on AC fans facing severe foiling withdrawal symptoms next week.

Let's get a petition via Weta, Salty and all the other kiwi Anarchists.

Please Sir Jim,

Put up the INEOS Cup next weekend with fleet racing for AC75's.

We don't want to see these crazy fast yachts mothballed, or even broken up without seeing them race in a breeze for the very last time.

Thank Your Honour

Even if there is no AC75 world championship or an INEOS Cup, I am hoping that LR and ETNZ don't get mothballed like AM and INEOS straight after the Cup.

It would be great to see some racing, even if only practice in a breeze before they all shut down.

For 2022, depending on who wins and who is COR I am hoping that some of the existing 2nd generation boats get some exhibition or ACWS events in.the Northern Hemisphere.

No, no, no. We want an an around the world race. Skip all that boring equator stuff. Start and finish in Aukland, all Southern Ocean.

Well said, I don't want to see them consigned to a container or wasting away in some yard.

They will only have a life as test platforms if the next cycle using the same class.

Otherwise the winner will end up on display and the others will get dumped.

Nobody on a salary of less than $1 Million has a chance in hell if sailing these boats.

You're absolutely right, it just seems a shame that they don't get to sail and shine again.

We put the old AC72 cat LR in a science museum in Milan, I can't imagine this LR. Winning or losing it's already a legend here. And at least in a modern art and design exposition she will find her place.

THAT is a great idea!

What basically needs to happen is that the dead time between the end of this AC36 and the announcement of the Protocol for AC37 is as short as possible. That way teams can start planning and justify keeping some folks at least on the payroll to do the type of events mentioned by Fodder

I'm hoping that if ETNZ win they can get the AC37 ready in two years to take place winter 2023/24 to finish before the 2024 Olympics in France.

They have the infrastructure already in Auckland and it would be fair to NZ and Auckland for them to have a shot at this to make up for the lack of incoming money this time.

I guess problem would be getting entries. Hopefully ETNZ will get some backing, INEOS and Prada again (after getting so close this time!)

At least one US syndicate might be possible on the shorter timescale if they could buy in to the AM operation (I don't have a good feeling about the three current backers but the NYYC has other wealthy members. Or a west coast syndicate could buy into it or take it forward).

The only way this would work would be to keep the AC75's with minimal rule adjustments. Maybe even agreeing in the new Protocol to allow new teams to take on the old boats (eight have been built) without the constructed in country requirement.

If Prada Luna Rossa win then it might be difficult to get it set up before the 2024 Olympics (if that indeed is a major consideration as it has been in the past to avoid a clash for sailors, sponsors and media) for a Match in the summer of 2023 in Sardinia/Sicily?

My main selfish consideration is that we see more AC75's sailing as soon as possible as they are totally amazing boats.

In the wild.
One hears that a Virtual Stars&Stripes with the Dennis will be there, as well as the Malta Mafia Bomb Squad and the Flying Dutch Clog with a hole in it('s budget).

Constructed in country really only applies in the formal competition of AC itself (challenger selection and match) so all current boats would remain valuable as training boats and benchmarks for any challenging team.

But could Mutual Consent override the DoG on this? I know it is a sort of hard one, but sailing to the event, buying North Sails,  Harken hardware, Southern Spar rigs and Cariboni hydraulics seem to have been overcome. So why not allow new teams to race secondhand boats.
