I guess it does seem like they are plodding along. But if they have no systems problems (or even fewer) in the cup cycle as a result, and if they can test foil changes more effectively, these things will be a huge advantage.
Testing on the water is a massive time suck too, every hour on the water is 10s of hours spent by shore crews, engineers etc just inspecting for damage, faults etc. As shown in Mozzy's videos most teams have been racking up lots of time on water and not really managed to get many maneuvers in at all. If you're on the water you have to be damned sure its effective time use! Look at the NZ team - hit the water with a well developed boat and getting quality training in already. Time will tell if INEOS pull off the same....

Ineos look to have been captured by their partners -the sailing team is not running the show any more, not too much salt in Brackley

Have you considered that perhaps it's precisely because he tried to do too much...without the desired result, that his boss has now decided to make use of his other 'resources'?

As to the no obvious reason - well tossing the old hard drives into the harbour and starting again from scratch on someone else's system, according to their specs and timetable is a clue surely ;)

Quite so. It is perhaps amusing that half of SAAC reckons BA does too much while another school of thought detects - for no obvious reason - that there's been a Brackley-led coup and the sailing team are passive observers while the designers run riot.
Let’s see what they deliver…..a technical rabbit hole is a distinct possibility.

That plan has certainly changed now.

I think you are on the money. This is also one of the reasons Grant Simmer is no longer CEO. When you have the Mercedes AMG F1 team at your design disposal as a sailor you should be concentrating on your sailing. Ben has heaps of ability but needs to improve. Sail GP also confirms this. The design team know the F1 business and have the design tools, systems, software and skill set to make things go faster question will be off course converting all of this to work with Hydro. The sensors on the test boat will provide them with all the data they need and this is a data processing race.

Ben gets paid the big $$$ doesn't matter how he does in the Cup. Win lose or draw Sir Ben makes a very healthy living from the cup. He'll never win the Cup IMO. Their last campaign could have come last if not for American Magic busting their boat. One would expect they'll beat the Swiss but after that it will be a battle.
I dispute this. You can argus how much of a role he actually played in AC34, but the record shows that he has actually already won the cup one more time than you (or I) have.

Campaign successfully in the Laser and Finn with a very intense focus on winning. I doubt his olympic medal tally will ever be overhauled. I don't think you go from that level of commitment to just schmoozing rich guys for a paycheque for 10 years. Writing them off as useless no hopers is a bit premature.

If they build the fastest boat they will win the cup, it's that simple.

If Mercedes AMG F1 design team can deliver him the fastest boat yes he has a chance. I think your slightly missing the point that I badly tried to put forward. In his last campaign he failed badly and that was largely his fault. He tried to do too much IMO. This time around it seems from the outside the funders have a different approach and have advised Ben accordingly. I think this time around could be their last unless they win the challenger series? I could be wrong but they need to win the series and face NZ for the Cup. As the challenger of record I think this must happen.
