Testing on the water is a massive time suck too, every hour on the water is 10s of hours spent by shore crews, engineers etc just inspecting for damage, faults etc. As shown in Mozzy's videos most teams have been racking up lots of time on water and not really managed to get many maneuvers in at all. If you're on the water you have to be damned sure its effective time use! Look at the NZ team - hit the water with a well developed boat and getting quality training in already. Time will tell if INEOS pull off the same....I guess it does seem like they are plodding along. But if they have no systems problems (or even fewer) in the cup cycle as a result, and if they can test foil changes more effectively, these things will be a huge advantage.
