Given the lumpy but light conditions often seen off Barcelona, I wonder if the easy take off could be a vital design aspect? Thanks SBD.
Still some issues keeping it out of the water, especially on turns, but there is quite a bit of swell which certainly won't be helping. Does seem to pop out again very easily and I don't envy those trying to classify when she has fallen off, touched down or stayed up. Hard to tell at times.
Also a lot more heeling to windward than I have seen from any other boat that I can recall.
Curious if there is a bit of a natural frequency to bobbing up to flight. It would seem you'd kill more speed than the lift you gain, but maybe not. It appeared they were doing so in one video, not sure if it was deliberate.Given the lumpy but light conditions often seen off Barcelona, I wonder if the easy take off could be a vital design aspect?
yes, the finally look like they are almost where they should be.Finally, a video that has 'some' powered, stable foiling by Ineos.
Generally, I've found their videos painful to watch...
fify.. these guys are super-late................yes, the finally look like they are almost where they shouldbehave been starting since October...
And we know that ain't fast.He said they are learning things about the boat they didn't expect. I guess that's due to the boat having characteristics that other boats do not have. And they are going into 4 days of changes to the boat. Also looked to me that they were most stable with both foils in the water.
Yeah. I guess I was trying to draw a line between the three points. The boat is not behaving as they expected. It was not stable. And they will make changes in the shed over the next 4 days. So, sure, they seem behind. Seems like that was inevitable once the crazy ruling about the towing "mast". And they are learning. That's the point of this boat anyway. I am not exactly rooting for them, but at this point in the process, seems better if all the teams are doing well. I'd like to be a fly on the wall for some INEOS meetings. And we know that ain't fast.
Remember they said that this isn't really a Boat. It's more or less just a Test Platform to gather Data and Giles Scott said this numerous times.Yeah. I've thought about those meetings too. I wonder how the dynamics between the sailors and the F1 engineers is meshing?Yeah. I guess I was trying to draw a line between the three points. Think they have done more sailing off autopilot than the kiwis have done in total.Turning a tow platform into a boat might be harder than the experts on SA think
still they have done 100% more sailing that NZ this year so I guess that means the kiwis are in serious trouble doesn't it. ? 😉
