and no sign of the French, given the hysteria at Ineos for their lack of water time, I’m wondering why the same isn’t being aimed at the French?
I think the general assumption is that the french are just in this one to learn for next time, not as serious candidates which Ineos should be.

FWIW with the amount of hours they are getting in now, with new tech, highly instrumented and seemingly without AP, I think they are catching up some of the other teams in meaningful data collection quote quickly. Especially given that from AMs statement we have a few more months until design freeze on the hull, and lots more before design freeze on foils, sails or all the system details

You will be pleased to know 4 has seemingly Nuked himself or blocked me so no more bickering

He has probably put you on his "ignore" list.Pplease for everyone else here do the same, you seem to enjoy not having him respond, so it's an easy way to do it permanently.

This place will be better without this constant catfight of futility..

True, but this does seem to be a one-off due to foil arm issues so questionable as to whether it would be worth it. And this was not too destructive. So far preferable to Icarus impressions.
good point. I suppose we will have to wait and see how much damage a half submerge does. I'm guessing since it's a development boat it is very hard to seal all the electronics properly each day. maybe the smart thing is to put critical stuff amidships, it seemed to float quite high out the water.

Given the supposed iron grip and all controlling nature that he is supposed to have had on the helm, it’s been good to see how easily others have stepped into that role in his absence, and how easily he slotted back in. will he helm when the cup starts? as certain as you can be but with others logging time this early in proceedings might indicate a more flexible approach.

Shipyard gossip time - here's what I've overheard in the last week or so...

- there's a new bustle on the cards for T6 (this might already have been installed, I'm not totally up to speed on the chat and recon videos)
- the Ac40 has arrived but has issues - apparently there were voids where the aluminium and foam cores don't properly meet up*

*i'm just repeating what I've heard being discussed around the shipyard, no idea how true/accurate this all is but likely not far off...

Weather wise it's fucking cold here - almost freezing overnight even at sea level. Pretty stable and light winds continuing for next few days and then a bit more going on next week - northerly which means offshore in the bay and relatively flat.

Maybe that will get the windward arm out of the water.

Seems very unlikely. But why care? Does it impact their data collection, validation of simulations or trials of new systems?

By unlikely I mean unlikely that it would raise the windward arm

They may increase their ride height is what I meant actually.

And at least the first 2 splashdowns were deliberate. The recon report said they were doing repeated lift-offs and the stopping and they clearly depower the main in those

A big testing day for the INEOS Britannia team who were out on a picture-perfect Palma Bay with the bit between their teeth to rocket-forward their testing programme. Long runs, with one recorded at a whopping 48 minutes airborne, will have Mission Control back in Brackley, Northamptonshire high-fiving tonight as they sort through an absolute barrage of premium data.

Speaking afterwards, Leigh McMillan who swapped in off the chase boat for Ben Ainslie and steered for the late afternoon part of the session gave a terrific interview to the Recon Unit’s Justin Chisholm, saying: I certainly think we overachieved today, over- achieved on miles covered and we got through all the list and then some today, so yeah it's a really good day out.”

They look like they're flying the windward foil out of the water more consistently. Could be the sea state though.

Could this foil arm design with high elbow be to reduce ventilation down the foil arm? May give cleaner data for side and up forces? Ventilation occurs quicker further away from perpendicular intersection of waters surface.
