That description must surely be paid for content by INEOS!? I saw two boards down, towing up onto foils, rounding up and bearing away on the same board, about the only board to board maneuver took ages and even then cut away before the new windward board had been raised....but sure "balletic", "whipsaw fast" fill your boots :(
The Recon reports are overhyped for sure, probably edited back at ACE, they read like advertisements. But we do get to judge a lot by the videos and interviews, so nice to have them regardless.

This factoid, from the latest Ineos recon report, likely is true

Long runs, with one recorded at a whopping 48 minutes airborne

^ The sailing team's admission that their last campaign was shit was very telling. Brackley clearly have them by the balls, but will now have nowhere to hide if they can't out-design a bunch of yokels who have never been within sniffing distance of an F1 track.

It was aerospace technology that would waft the Team to glory last time wasn't it ;)

I have seen that both boards down for ages in previous videos too. But not always. And I have seen exactly the same from LR before. And for no obvious reason, ie they have speed, seem to have balance.
I'm not sure whether it's data collection, training or what, but I'm pretty sure both boats are doing it deliberately. Would like to know why

Sailing with fookin huge pitot tubes on the front of the foils, just might maybe compromise certain aspects of manoeuvres at the expense of additional data gathering.
but hey SA kiwis know best..

If they compromised it that much, they'd compromise the data collection. And I don't think they are that big

Whether as that recon report suggests Ineos are lifting out more easily than the others or not, it is clear that one of the big evolutions this time is how much easier they are flying. Lifting out easily with a J3 in under 10kts breeze is quite remarkable

Looking at the leading edge of their foils, the wing profile is like that of a DC3, so it's not surprising that they can get up in a breath of wind....Heck they could probably foil going backwards.....;)

That photo obviously shows the chord length rather than thickness. How you evidence that they do have a thick leading edge? I thought from earlier photos they were bigger chord but slightly thinner

The leading edge looks pretty rounded to me in that shot, but yes it is hard to find a good shot of the front edge to know it's exact thickness and profile.
