Will be interesting to see if it takes longer than 'the end of this week.' It may depend on what all spares they have.

Ben Ainslie said, “It was a tough situation for the team once T6 fully inverted. Everyone came together well to resolve what could have been a much more serious issue in salvaging the yacht. Thankfully everyone is safe, and we can now focus on repairing the damage as part of a pre-scheduled upgrade window at the end of this week.”

Have we seen any AC related boats fully inverted in recent times?
Oracle AC72 B1 was the last AC boat upside down after their pitch pole and subsequent dismasting before towing it in upside down. The Artemis AC72 just got towed in a heap.

Other than that, it's just been capsizes between the AC75s, AC40s, LEQs, previous "mules", AC50s.. And the French IACC when they lost their keel.

Oh well, at least the AC 40 has given them plenty of recent experience of laminate repairs.

seriously, though, good to hear that they’re all okay and that they can now roll into any upgrades that were already scheduled.

'A bit of a slam down' resulted in that much carnage? Worrying.

BA says something like how that slam down prevented them from easing the sheets. Also says it capsized to one side, then after a righting attempt, again to the other side. And that the mast filled up with water, leading to the complete inversion. And unlike the Recon report about 'end of the week' he is talking 'later this month.'

Given how they went both ways and upside down and filled the mast, well.... damn....

Sucks, they were starting to look good finally.

Worrying like the front folding up on a boat you sold to everyone after making it compulsory to buy and then delivering them with large areas of delamination, meaning they need to be fixed and the front ‘engineering solution’ installed before you can use them?

just wanting to gauge the level of worry that’s appropriate

The worry here must surely be focused on the Ineos T6 boat specifically and on a program that was already well behind by all metrics.

I do hope they recover fast but having filled both hulls with water, and the mast, and had batteries set fire to things? There could be a lot of damage!

Maybe they will switch sooner than they'd planned to the AC40? And maybe they now wish they'd ordered two instead? They could restart where ETNZ was with their AC40-1 but about 2 months ago?

Ease up, JAL. You seem to be getting a wee bit agitated. ;-)

Am curious if we will see a video, where a tentative Ben was onboard - and was the first one to abandon ship :D
