SR, your series of posts today make you look like an arse. Someone could easily have died.
Since nobody got hurt there is absolutely no harm in having some fun with this development, maybe the biggest 'news' in a while around here. What the hell else do we have to laugh about? There sure the f' is nothing to enjoy in your UKR thread. Ineos will be just fine in the long run.

Okay, if you are feeling humor-deprived then maybe try this one? Chill.

Why the hell are we still dragging this wing around, and now even upside down?

Where is that photo from? What boat is the other boat in the photo? Doesn't look like the rib in the other images/video?

Looks to me that Basher Ben has abandoned ship for the comfort and safety of the RIB despite the desperate pleas from his crew to return and save their souls.
Strip him of his knighthood I say.

That looks like either Chase 3 (team RIB that does a lot of the towing and carries backboard on the roof) or Chase 1 which I thought was the recon RIB but is the one on the portside of T6 at the dock in the interview with Ben.

The interview says that the recon team helped with the rescue. I think all recon teams are required to help if shit goes real bad.

So, no balloon between the skins up top?

Didn't another team mention something like that on their rig?
Actually it was Ineos that mentioned. Not clear why it didn't work.

No surprise about that the haters came out.

Everyone alright, the hull is in one piece, the systems can be replaced whilst they do the upgrade. Ben said only a few days ago that all teams would have some times when they couldn't sail. Ineos' just came sooner than he expected

I think the balloon gives you time, but two back to back capsizes in the space of minutes and the mast started filling.

Ben got separated from the boat and picked up by the rib (CupInsider)

doesn't seem to have been mentioned, but this could have been prevented if the main could be dumped more than ~20' from the centreline.

any point in maybe putting a quickrelease onto it somehow?
I suspect that the ram makes that impracticable
impractical sure, but not impossible.

Putting the boat on it's side is also impractical.
True, but this does seem to be a one-off due to foil arm issues so questionable as to whether it would be worth it. And this was not too destructive. So far preferable to Icarus impressions.

This line of discussion last week comes to mind. Having a massive boomless twin main with just ~20' of travel either side of centreline could do with some sort of back up safety measures. They could easily have sunk the boat here.

would love to hear more about the safety diver's procedure to get an inflatable onto the masthead when it's turned turtle, wonder what equipment he has (if any)

The problem of a double skin main filling up with water hadn't previously occurred to me, though it might have done from my days of using cammed windsurfer sails in which the luff would fill with water if you dropped the sail.

What, if anything, is to prevent this happening on an AC75, where the consequences might be worse? Or on the boomless double-skinned AC40, potentially with less experienced crew and less support around? Actual question, not rhetorical.
