I mean a virtual pivot point as in one that moves it's centre. I think that's santa cruz terminology for what is properly called a 'instant centre' where the pivot location moves through range of motion.

Pivot points, whether an actual hinge like with the W foil, or imaginary point about which the flap rotates have alwasy been allowed outside the wing / flap cross section in both rule sets.

with diagrams. essentially they are saying single pivot only?

Olympic 49er Olympic Champion 🥇 Dylan Fletcher joins the squad. Great to have you onboard Dylan!

Good move.
I wonder what the chances are that Ben hands the wheel over to someone else?

There should be enough data to rate helm technique and reactions, both on dual helm AC75 and the test boats.

(This applies to all teams, but Ineos is the only one with CEO/skipper)

single axis per flap segment

That to me is a significant change from last time that we haven't seen manifest itself very much - possibly until now. Though NZ's curved foils could include multiple segments joined by flexures. That is not clear

Ben was great in Finns and match racing boats. His performance in foiling boats has always been average, and at his age, is now below average. Fletcher is one of the best apparent wind sailors in the world. So the choice of helms is between someone like Spithill and someone like Burling. Which would you choose?

I would choose Fletcher over Ainslie given Bens Age. That being said Clean, it won't matter whom they chose. Why? Their Boat will be in all likelyhood too slow yet again.
I've been saying this for over a year now that this Team is pure CHAOS and it will also likely be the last British AC Challenger for the forseeable future.
Jim Ratcliffe is not the kind of guy who sticks around if his Teams are not producing Results. He has poored in massive amounts of Cash into this thing and doesn't want to come 2nd.
Judging the poor Performances by the Mercedes Cars over the last two years the collaboration between the INEOS Britiannia & the Mercedes Applied Science Division has turned into a complete joke.

Further Clean: British AC Challengers have turned in poor Performances. Now I do exclude BAR's in 2017 since it was a new Team and you always never win it being a 1st Time Challenger.
But changing out your complete Design after AC36 and hook up with the sinking ship that is Mercedes GP is just a massivly poor Decision by Ben.

You need Russell Coutts to win the AC IMO!

Dg how’s team Germany coming along?
as for wussell, if you need him to win the AC how has he ever lost it and how have NZ won it without him?
Russell Coutts wasn't technically a part of Oracle Team USA in 2017 when New Zealand took the Cup back. He had nothing to do with the Design of the slow OTUSA Boat. The General Manager of the Team was Grant Simmer.

Coutts was CEO of ACEA!

Coutts won the AC 5 Times (3 x Times as a Helmsman and 2 Times as a CEO). That speaks for itself, doesn't it? Russell knows how to built a Cup winning Team regardless if it is on or off the water.

So how did TNZ win? If russel want involved with them?
as for Jim and his cash? The AC is pocket change 120-150 million over 4 years vs a one third ownership stake in an F1 team or the 3-5 billion he is looking at spending on whatever football club he can get in the premier league
