For a team that has admitted to not trusting their previous design tools for the last two campaigns, to now trusting the tools enough to build slow boats with slow appendages because "who cares? They're not using them to race" and have the ability to translate that slow data into super fast outcomes for the AC75, this team must look great to some! Its certainly the most outside the square approach, to purposely build everything slow to produce the fastest boat.
In all seriousness, this team is in trouble... again.

It’s kind of funny how in a flap all the colonials are considering INEOS are supposed to be such a shit team, I mean, fancy having the temerity to test a different foil.

it’s gonna be fun watching how this all develops at least

What is an "...arm operated socket....", what is "...14th weight..." and how fat must Hunter's head be to make him 20% less aero than Ganna? Oh and if they are dumb enough to actually build a 75ft boat, well that's another 4 years and and a gazillion FracDollars wasted.
Depends how they've measured it. But in terms of CdA it doesn't sound far off. The difference between the same rider on a road bike versus a TT bike is around 20%. So if they are comparing Hunter on his road bike versus Ganna on the TT bike, I would be surprised if it wasn't more. But even if they are doing a apple for apples comparison on the same type of bike, it's really not unlikely.

They could also be measuring it in watts to do a certain speed. That's a bit more basic, and depends on the speed selected as aero drag squares with speed.

They could also do in on speed at a certain amount of watts. Again, Ganna being 20% faster at 400 watts wouldn't surprise me at all, especially if they are comparing a TT position with a road bike.

JAL You are too sensitive, I certainly am a TNZ Fan but I think Ineos will be just as competitive as the others with the exception of France.
I might have had a dig at you after you had a dig at TNZ but that is just fun?

Oh come on, you can’t have failed to notice the increase in posts being overtly critical over testing a “different” foil.

INEOS. Boo evil Jim, ben is too old, team uk will never win
ETnZ greedy grant selling the cup overseas, pleading poverty
AM, ambitious, practices a great game. yet to race it
prada, well dressed techy and very stroppy when pushed on and off the race course
France, Grants French poodle

that’s just about covers the SA stereo types doesn’t it?

i’m not about to go back in to the he said she said he started it etc, because that’s utterly ridiculous it’s all based on what somebody would take offence to whether it was implied or not.

no one is actually having a dig at anybody personally and I certainly don’t take criticism of the team as a personal, it’s just funny seeing it ratchet up when something new appears

It's been low new days for a while and I guess Anarchy rules a bit more now.
There course has led over some territory some think has been over. But I for one think they are going over it with a fine tooth comb to try to find something others have missed. Mozzy suggested the outside flap sections don't need actuators outside the foil but they appear to have those so there must be a reason we don't see.
The team will make them look silly in due course by being very competitive, mark my words.

Whether you like this or not, Ben Ainslie is simply too old and so are Spithill & Bruni.

All 3 are desperately trying to be Roger Federer but all 3 are well past their Prime.

Ainslie turns 47 next year.

It isn't a coincidence that for example in SailGP that the Top 3 Teams (Australia, New Zealand and France) are all being helmed by a Helmsman who is 35 and under in some cases like Delapierre they have been under 30.

Let's by quite frank here. With these "Speedsters" like the AC75 or AC40 it has become a young man's Game and not for old gals like Ben, Jimmy and Francesco.

Interesting how this is developing, as it did back in AC36. The Brits getting the shit kicked out of them, for seemingly agricultural design. What has changed this time around? They have better data?

No wait......

I can't believe you'd go to the trouble of building a complex foil like the W without thinking there's some merit to it? You don't pursue these development lines randomly. They've seen something, probably in their sim. I get the impression the Brits are looking for a break through advantage, and not just parity. Why wouldn't you?

They've already agreed their data was shit/unreliable form their last tilt at the windmill, no? Presumably, shit in-shit out - so anything their simulator thinks it saw is likely to need a re-boot. Is this the re-boot?
