J/80 jib halyard tension

I put a Lewmar 12 winch on the cabin top and a Harken 150 cleat mounted to the bulkhead under the winch. I have marks on the halyard where the bottom wrap contact the winch so we can duplicate light to heavy air tension. Never had a problem with the line getting loose. As an added bonus, the winch helps keep the spin sheets forward and out of the cockpit.

No cleats on mast, lead to cabin top winch, leave wraps on winch and mount cam cleat on the vertical surface of the cabin wall next to hatchway. Never slips, immediately adjustable. Sounds like would just have to move one of the cleats from your mast to the cabin wall.
