The follow-on joke is that they guy driving the car is guaranteed to be in a car crash at the next traffic light because the colors don't look right.

Heard of red shift? Blue shift is the opposite. Doppler effect for light. Measured in distant stars, but not in cars unless they are driving *really* fast.

In fact, the speed can be pretty low for a detectable spectral shift. That's one of the ways they discover planets orbiting a distant star. As the planet orbits the star, the star also orbits the planet very slightly. Astronomers have gotten so good at measuring spectral shift that they can see the star's spectrum shifting red/blue/red/blue... as its position changes during the orbital cycle. Actually, the shift would be "more red / less red", but you get my point.
I don't know the amount of this shift, but it can't be much, at least not compared to the typical red shift of a star in our expanding universe.
I'm not aware of this technique being used on cars though, so we should probably stick with "really fast".
