Joshua 40'

We are looking at upgrading our liveaboard situation as our current boat a 30' bridgedeck launch is getting a bit small. So while cruising trademe I found a Joshua 40' which looks like it may suit our needs as a live aboard and posible long distance cruiser. Does anyone know anything about these boats?

If it's a sail boat then it may be the same design that Bernard Montessier sailed around the world but a bit hard to say without a picture

We have good friends (Deborah Shapiro and Rolf Bjelke) with a Joshua 40 "Northern Light".

It's an absolute go anywhere tank. They added ballast to the keel (added lead keel wings). They have been world cruising on it forever (must be at least 20 years now). It's smaller inside than a modern 40'er but still probably bigger than your 30'er.

Hello John Bailey,
I had the good fortune to sail with Rolf and Deborah on Norther light in the 1990.
J have been trying to write to them but have not been able to get my letters to go through. If anyone k kw a way I could get a message Letter or call to them I would very very much appreciate it. I have been wanting to thank them for years.
Thank you so much for any help.

I think that their book, “Northern Light” (or maybe “Time on Ice”) may have some descriptions of the boat. Thinking it’s going on 30 or so years, based on the book publication dates… :)
