I can't help but wonder, watching arguably once the greatest country in the world falling apart, who benefits?
The two obvious answers are Russia and China.
Do we know for certain that there isn't big money from either or both behind the likes of MTG, Carlson, McCarthy and the rest? Does the CIA check that stuff?

The 50's McCarthy era created an exodus of left-leaning intellectuals and academics to Canada and other places, my parents included. People were blacklisted and lost their careers. My amputee WWII vet father was told he was unemployable in US academia and promptly left. I don't think we are quite there yet, but we are certainly a ways down the road.

At least 1950s McQarthy was sort-of right, there WERE communist spies in various places.
Sadly he had no idea who the fuck they were and just picked random people, but there were spies to be found if a real investigation with evidence and so on would have been done instead of his clown show.

The 1950s McCarthy had his own political advantage in mind, just as the GQP does. There were in fact Russian spies and Communists (and many of those Communists were more loyal Americans than either McCarthy) in military and the gov't, but Joe McCarthy did not know or care who they were. It was a stunt, a dumb act.
Today's GQPers are pulling the same kind of dumb stunt, but they're actively working for a hostile foreign country and they are encouraging violence and anti-America acts.

I realize Fox will release misleading video, in their tradition of truthiness. But why try to keep the video secret, especially now.
