Should be a decent M24 fleet for the first time in a while with Worlds just down the road, though it remains to be seen if they will favor the shorter Miami events instead. M20s and other small sporties unlikely despite KW allowing them in, at the moment looks like they're choosing Miami according to those I've spoken to.

BTW, congrats to L_Z for finally getting them to ditch that shit-ass scoring they've used for a decade.

Heard they are cutting way back this year, even doing away with the tent.
Yes tent is gone, but they now blocked off the street next to Kelly's. It will be far better with a bar that will not close (cash bar after the free bar closes), food available from the restaurant etc, it should be solid...I just hope my wife gets amnesia from the last years 10 days away from home with 3 little ones......

Clean spoke of KWRW without mentioning how much it sucks!?!?

Come on dude, tell us what you really think about Peter Craig. Pretty please?

It's one of the reasons I always click on KWRW threads.

Lookie there, you even got a chance to kiss your former friend's butt cheek.

Very cute. No reason to bash KWRW now that they are actually doing some of the right things. It's just too bad they waited until desperation set in to do it, but I guess that's what it takes for change to happen for some folks.

Still one of my favorite all time places to sail, though I'd take a week in Garda over it every time.

Does this mean that they will now charge for you and your crew to use the street???????

You will have to ask them on that, but yes for the free booze I would assume you need to pay. I believe they also lowered the ticket price and give one free one with the registration. We had a great time last year and other than getting the boat there (getting an oversize 34' boat there is just plain expensive no matter who you use or how you do it); once on site its all pretty reasonable. We found a condo that slept 8 for under $3k for 8 days, Coffin Marine was awesome getting masts up and boats in for less than years past; all while we got to munch on chicken, burgers, dogs and beer they provided for free. And even the marina dockage folks significantly dropped their price for the event.

There are lots of people who complain about this and that and its too expensive, but it can be done for what ever price you want. You can do 5 star or well maybe 2 star. For say a Melges 24 without getting there or food you could do it for under $3,500. Now 4 people 7 days.....hard to do a family vacation for less than that per person per day. And no I am not being a sock puppet for Peter or anyone else. I truly feel that a strong Key West is good for our sport and we all need to do what we can to get people there; whether its PHRF, Melges 24, 105 or IRC; the more the merrier.

Anyone heard what the logistic plans are for the sporties.

The last time I raced there, when the Melges were there, it was a cluster with a long wait as they all tried to get out at the ramp in the basin. If you didn't have a protector to pull you in (a' la Team Pegasus), it was at least a couple of hours each day.

You could form a group and charter one of these.
