Interesting take from Kristol.

She's a nut. She'd be running for Republican VP candidate as a small state independent bi-sexual turncoat. I can't think of any Republican who would pair with that. Vane Vain doesn't begin to describe her.

But I'd be happy if she stayed out of the general because Ducey would be formidable if he ran.

What do you think, @giegs?

She won’t be the Democratic candidate. That’ll be Gallego. She won’t be the Republican candidate. That could be Lake or some suitable nutjob. Both will have won their respective primaries. Write-in? Dunno if she’s even on the ballot without a lot of work. Is she going to form the AZ For Sinema Party?
She can continue to steal
McCain language and call it the Maverick party.

Another media whore who gets headlines and gets to see her picture in the media a lot now. Would love to have been on the call or in the meeting she had with Pelosi before she pulled the trigger on this.
Schumer, yeah, but it likely went something like this “what do you mean I wont get a committee chair? I’ll leave the party!” “Ok, don’t let the door hit you on the ass on the way out”

She would be welcome in the Maverick party.
The Maverick Party, formerly known as Wexit Canada, is a Canadian federal political party. It advocates for constitutional changes to benefit, or the independence of, Western Canada, which includes British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and the three territories. The party has its roots in Alberta separatism.

Given the way she seems to be bending with the wind, that is priceless.

I could see her as part of a "bipartisan" ticket with a Republican. She has donors, but not many political allies. Since it's obvious she has no interest in representing her constituents, I think she's appeasing donors by making things harder for the Dems while maintaining her self-image as a quirky girl boss that's willing to chart her own way.

It pains me to acknowledge the Ice Cream King as 'formidable', but you're right there. He appeals to a certain type. Doesn't handle being called out for his bullshit well though, so a strong Dem that can lean on actual convictions should be able to control a debate.

I think I've mentioned here that any time I call Sinema's office to comment on how terrible she is I get the impression her staff can't stand her. At the very least they're fielding calls from people like me constantly.

Getting on the ballot for the general election isn't that hard. It takes 1/4 of 1% of the registered voters or about 10,000 signatures.

Sinema would be the third independent caucusing with the Dems.

She is not caucusing with the Dems, but 50 beats 49. Also, she keeps her committee assignments. I don't think this means much other than she's not running in the primary.

Isn't that the plan? She couldn't be elected as a Democrat, so it makes sense that she would run as an Independent, which forces the Democrats to find a suitable candidate and gives her breathing room to develop a strategy as an Independent. It also threatens the Democrats with a three-way race which they wouldn't want to see in the general election because the Democrats could lose in a three-way. Her mistake is thinking anyone would vote for her as an Independent, and her reputation is shot in Az. She's a one-and-done and doesn't realize it yet.
I think you're leaning in the right direction. But not thinking far enough ahead. I think our buddy Sinema has gone independent to fuck over the Democrats in the next election, and then switch to Republican after that.

I have little doubt her 'donors' are helping her along.

That's very possible, never underestimate a politician is a good rule.

Seems like Sinema is trying to open her pockets to both sides, no?

Given the red hot division of USAnian politics and voters, just how many "independant" candidates have been voted into Senate, Congress or the White House in, say, the past 20 or 30 years? (And no, Clint Eastwood doesn't count as he only ran for mayor.)

As it is, she is merely a Trojan Horse, running for a party of one - herself.

She should give up her seat and try to regain it running as an independant for the next term. Meanwhile, of course, that seat should be given to the Team D runner up, because the membership to that team was the main reason she got there.

How the hell did western politics turn into some sort of reality show, bordering comedy, but without being fucking funny?!
