Hi -

I'm new to the forum and hope maybe i can find some insight. I am in the market to buy a used later model laser to race at the club level with maybe a bit of travel. Are there any hull #'s, years, etc.... to stay away from or chase after? I have not been following the Laser class at all for the last 15 years and know very little about what has been happening on the manufacturing end.

Thanks in advance,

Newer the better. With that said.....I bought a 76' laser last yr for 900 w/ a trailer. Got new tiller for. 130, re-did outhaul, vang, Cunningham for another 250 or so. I prob could have done for cheaper . My boat will compete. Get a boat, sail it A LOT. Get better. Win.

I don't know shit tho. I just like to sail and been doing it a long time. Get insights from some others obviously. Laser my number 3 boat. Mostly like to take it surfing under the bridge. Great boats. Great fun.

Meet and talk to the members of the club you are hinting at. There's plenty Laser activity in Connecticut. And, as has been stated, The Laser Forum is a good site. As far as boats is concerned, there are lemons of course. A thorough inspection of a prospective boat is a good thing.
