l'Hydroptere at it again

First day, first record!

Friday 4th September

Alain Thébault and his eight crew members started their first day of training this morning in the Hyères harbour. The good wind conditions, i.e. 20 knots of West wind were there!

During the 4th run, l'Hydroptère team significantly improved the record over one nautical mile at 44.9 knots*. This record in all categories was already held by l'Hydroptère, which established it at 43.09 knots in November 2008.

The coming runs are promising as the wind has increased since the beginning of the afternoon.

WHat I like about this boat is that it is a real boat, crew, interior, floats when it stops, stays in the water overnight, sails on both tacks, etc. It is not some engineering nightmare that self-destructs after one run, or a modified water ski with a sail. Very cool.
