Nice; congrats!!

Fun catching up with this thread. Really cool project. Where did you end up location wise? Are you living aboard this winter?
Annapolis area. Not living aboard yet as still some projects to be done before habitable. Aiming at March.

If it’s only a little bit of dust, you won’t notice it in a month. If it’s insane… sand it flat and recoat. You can also buff it out if you’re inclined. The third option is to make it a matte finish, which looks nice on interiors anyways
To me, they almost show up more on matte finishes.

I am up on Magothy. If you ever need help give a shout. We are one of the bigger tris you will see headed up and down the Bay. Rarely in Naps and almost never in Severn due to insane boat traffic. We try to get as far away as fast as possible LOL! But sweet ride and impressed by your DIY skills.

Matte is the answer

I’ve been trying gloss and satin finishes and with the matte, you don’t have reflections to hide the dust

If you still have any hairs, snots, dust, etc in the final thinned coat, a piece of 800 grit sandpaper wiped over them a few times and rub some polish on it. It works just about every time. I’m glad you’re not worried about drips, runs and dry spots!

I put satin varnish on the replacement teak faced plywood I put on the inside of the cabin house where the portholes are. put 4 coats on, after the last coat I lightly rubbed it with the white scotch brite pad (least abrasive they make). It knocked off the bulk of the dust nibs, then I rubbed it with a cotton rag and it came out looking pretty good.
Edit.. Forgot to mention I put a coat of epoxy on it before the varnish and sanded the epoxy smooth before varnishing.

A nice trick is using a wipe on as the final, it's a thin, fast curing coating: https://thewoodwhisperer.com/articles/avoiding-dust-in-your-finish/
That's what I do - build thickness with gloss varnish because it builds the quickest, sand with 220 until satisfied then a quick round of 320 then a final coat of Minwax wipe on. It's nice down the road too because once it shows a bit of wear you can just wipe on another coat. Goes on like oil but dries hard.

Currently in varnishing hell. Trying to get a coat that doesn’t have dust in it.

I miss electrical work
Can identify, since I’m on a year-plus odyssey of refinishing my entire interior. Here’s another plug for satin or matte finish - forgiving, looks great, and if you don’t like a bit you can go back and sand and re-touch it.

Samsung “The Frame” tv installed. I have teak trim that will go around it and cover the wire. I picked this because it shows art when it’s not being used as a TV. No black rectangle on the bulkhead.

Not a bad idea. I have an 18" panel that I use as a repeater for the deck nav display (Raspberry Pi running OpenCPN). I could download all the images from the cleavage & non-cleavage thread and have the Pi inside the boat display them for 1 minute each.

Though I think my GF's tolerance & amusement might last for maybe 5 images.

Perhaps...
