^Still on the band wagon myself, been pretty up front that I would be delighted by an LR win, as stated it would disruptive to the status quo (in spite of the fact that time zone wise it would not be in my own self interest).

Going to make sure & keep that Ipad charged up, lady wife goes under the knife for a lung biopsy in the 1st week of March.

Yeah I'm still optimistic, she is undergoing this procedure because her oncologist kind of won't take no for answer, she underwent the "needle type" biopsy recently & it showed inflamation/benign tissue.

Hope springs eternal.

Article by Marco Capitani re sail design

Sailing The level of efficiency compared to a rigid wing?
Marco CapitaniWell, we are very close. The beauty is that you can make the profile asymmetrical between upwind and downwind, in a medium like the AC75 that passes through different moments, a bit like in an airplane. From the take-off phase, where the wing must have a certain shape, or once you fly, where the profile must change quickly and adapt to the new situation. Thanks to the soft wing you can do this quickly and thanks to the systems inside it is possible to obtain the best adjustment of the two surfaces, the windward one and the leeward one. Once you have identified the targets of the two surfaces, at various times and in various transitions, you can do what you want by reaching the goals you have set yourself thanks to the North Sails software.

Solid gold respect that you back a team - it doesn't matter who it is.

Imaging frequenting this forum, trolling and whinging about an event you don't even have a team in that you support...

Now *that* would be the most flaccid of flailings...

Fingers crossed here, good luck for her.

What status quo would a LR win disrupt?  Serious question.  Their finger, palm, foot and arm pit prints are all over this event.

My best to your wife.

Great news as half of my favorite team I was worrying about them being out so long. Hopefully they baked in some upgrades. Maybe a new forestay/tack system!

Max said they were taking the time to do planned upgrades early, guess they now get to play with the upgrades a bit longer before the regatta.

Excellent article.

- boats are heavy but powerful, we reach 30 kts upwind. Our level of performance is about the same as the previous AC50 now.

- our design allows to touch the water so that the hull is close to the water and creates an "effet de plaque" (ground effect ? -sticking effect? ) for better aero

- our foils are small which requires bulbs to put weight. TNZ foils are double our size with no bulb.

- we don't know what concept is better yet and it will be important it works because we can't change foils between races

- our boat is stable in rough conditions but upwind starts will be very tricky because we need speed to sheet in and get power.
